ok first just let me say that I love my civic and the reason I purchased it was for the looks I liked it better the the rsx because I wanted a bit more room (last car was a precidea too small) Now here is the question knowing that the si or ex in u.s is only 127hp and doesnt really have a big increase in hp for aftermarket stuff like for example $600.00 for a evo exhaust that only gives u around 5hp u all still buy this car to try and do it up
to run 10'S. Dont try and tell me u dont because u dont spend all this cash and time for your car to go a second faster.Anyways back to the point
I am wondering why u just didnt purchase a used acura type r or and eclipse or rsx or what be the case and work from there infact if u had have purchased these u would still probally be faster than u are with your 7th gen vic with mods. The thing is I want a fast car to and man I will be buying a air intake and a exhaust for it but thats it. I sometimes wish I had of bought a used type r with low miles or a eclipse but I love the look
of the 7th gen civic so that keeps me satisfied. I only am hopeing like many of u that the 170hp engine comes out like in 2 years then trade mine in. please dont rip me a new a hole for this thread it is my opinion and just want to here if anyone shares this.

Rep Power: 0 i know what your saying man but people bought there civics for its looks and stuff but the reason people dont just type R's is b/c its a pain and very expesive to get one imported and its imposible to pass immesions laws. i bought my civic to make it look nice and i just threw in a shot. my rsx-s is the car i use to race 80% of the time

i can't answer for everyone else, but for me i bought it cuz i liked the look of it, and it is honda, which = reliability. the whole point of fixing up my car is not for speed, cuz if i wanted to go fast i sure as heck wouldn't have gotten a honda. im fixing it up cuz thats what i want to do....to make it sound/look good. thats why i got it....

Rep Power: 0 i've thoguht about getting a used car for the same price but you know what i'm on a budget and insurance would be hard to do with a faster car. And honda= reliability and i drive alot and for the price i like the look. but if i knew about how crappy the D17 was i would have reconsidered. i still am i'm thinking of trading in like 2 years maybe. cuz man. i wanted soemthing that had potential to do something with. but too bad D17 sucks. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/IMG] and it seems like not that many mods will come out like other vics. oh well i should get a rich old lady as a girlfriend and have her buy me an M3[IMG]i/expressions/beer_yum.gif[/IMG]

Rep Power: 0 looks like most see my point the thing is yeah i see a point to put an exhaust and intake and some tint and rims but thats it just for show and sound thats why i got my honda but when it comes to nos and fuel rails and ports and so on I see no point spenden all that cash might as well bought a used s2000 or something. Also I am not sure how it works in the U.s but in Canada there are tons of used type r's not civic type r but acura type r's . I had driven a mx-3 4cyl for 5 years and it has under 100 hp so I thought that the 127 vtec model would make me feel a big difference but I was wrong. I will probally end up getting the celica gts I have heard nothing but good things about this car. Anyone wanna buy a civic ex 3500 km lol

Anyway back to the topic, i bought my civic knowing it wasn't a race car. It's a 127 horse power economy car, thats it. It will never run 10's hell it will never run 13's, thats it. If you bought a civic in thinking it was a race car then you wasted your money. I mod my car to make it look cool, i don't care how fast it is, if i wanted fast i would have bought a RSX, but i couldn't afford it so....

On the other hand... I bought the Civic for the rediculous gas milage and low maintainance. If a turbo should happen to find its way under the hood one day... cool, if not, oh well. But I won't do stuff like that until I get out of college and have another car to drive...

Rep Power: 364 I didn't get a used car because I don't like the idea of someone having farted on my seats. This is the reason I only let girls in my car. Also, used cars are simply never in the condition that a new car is in. So I could have an ok car that is fast, or a nice clean car that has had only my butt in the seat. Like others have said, being fast isn't everything. I like getting 30+ mpg.
