Attention anyone with a VW.....

Just a message to anyone who has one of these...
My mom's VW Jetta burned or leaked (we aren't sure because we haven't seen signs of either) nearly all the oil in the engine off. Its a 2001 GLS with the 2.0L engine and about 14K mi. If anyone's parents or friends have a Jetta/Golf with the 2.0L engine, you may want to tell them to check it. We put 1.5 Qt. of oil back in the car to get anything to show up on the dipstick. It's going in tomorrow.....

Gross generalization. I have seen 7th gen civics do something similar...some have even had entire engines replaced.

Faulty/defective parts affect all cars, and this does not mean ALL cars of a certain brand are bad.

Uhhhh... all I said was check the dipstick... It's not like I told everyone to run to the dealer for a new engine. If someone said their 7th gen was leaking oil, you'd be running to your car to check it too.

Same thing happened in my old 95 Altima. I blew my oil seal behind the front cover, and never knew until I checked my oil. I never saw any oil because it only leaked when the oil pressure was high... i.e. driving. I ended up going through 4qts a day until I could get it fixed for a little less than a grand. Thats not to mention blowing my transmission 3 times, new shocks, new starter 2 new alternators, and a 50% decrease in gas mileage to 16mpg and three batteries later i got my new 2k2 civic. Ohhh yeah. but it sucked and now im happy.

One of my old friends has a 98 Jetta that he bought about a year ago and ever since then he has had problems. From his experiences alone i will never buy a VW. I'll stick with Honda.
