Because while Honda was spending most of its money for Civic-Development on the actual designing of the car, Ford was spending quite a bit of money being sneaky, trying to figure out what Honda was planning for the next Civic. When they got a general idea of what direction Honda was taking, they applied those designed elements into the Focus. Now some of you will say that the Focus came out before the Civic, so that can't be true. Well, Honda begins development on the next generation car just months after the current model is released (the 8th gens are being developed right now), so Ford took the opportunity a few years back to help itself to Honda's concepts. This kind of thing happens in the industry ALL THE TIME, but I don't know why Ford just didn't steal a Civic and slap a Ford badge on it, instead of trying to take credit for Honda's ideas. (Notice how both the Focus and Civic have similar brake problems). Just thought I'd try to enlighten everyone a bit

I know. I got some PM's about it when I posted it in this thread first, so I put it in it's own thread titled "WHY THE FOCUS LOOKS LIKE THE CIVIC". I didn't want to "hijack" this thread .

Many people on this site have been complaining of excessive brake noise, and various other problems. I took a jog around various Focus sites and found the same problems reported (even more-so with Foci
). I even think there has been an official recall by Ford to fix a part of the Focus braking system, though don't quote me on that .
