getting turbo, need opinions.
so, i decided to order my turbo kit from turbo performance in Cali. I found a shop to install it for me here in NJ. They are very excited about my car, and being one of the first turbo 7th gens on the east coast. they offered to cut the labor in half, if i put their stickers on my car. they want a big winshield banner, and 2 window stickers. now, i'm not crazy about it, and would almost rather pay full price because i like the clean look of my car. should i tell them i want the labor free or 75% off? if they say no, should i go with the current deal, or pay full price.

personally i think you could hustle them intojust one sticker,,,maybe the widshield sticker,,,and if your solid on not having the stickers,,,dig into them and let em know that their competitor would do your car for 75% off and no stickers,,,you just gotta make them want you..how much is your turbo gonna cost you by the way?
ya can deal with them, since ya one of the first, it would be in their best interest to get any advertisement on ya car , either way go for 75% off labor or less stickers
i would go for 75% off heh
if they don't give ya that, 50% is still good =)

First of all, what's the shops name? If it's something cool sounding then you tell them you can deal with the front or the two sides. If it's something you'd be ashamed of then tell them the deal is off. $500 for labor X 2 = $1000. Still not bad. Would you mind paying $500 to keep the clean look of your car? Anyways, you can tell them you will give them word of mouth publicity. Obviously ppl are going to be asking where you got it done and if you like it. You can recommend them to anyone who asks for a special price. See where I'm going?

Personally i think that one sticker on your windshield will not ruin the clean look of your car, especially if its a nice sticker and a nice color sticker that matches the color of your car...sometimes or in most cases a windshield sticker can make your whole front end of your car look better IMO...
Saving 500 to put on a sticker is worth it....just my $00.02

I'd say let them keep the stickers on your car for 6 months at the most. That way, any pictures or anything that are taken of your car will show their shop off, and then after the six months you can have your baby back
.
. just say no to stickers
if you can afford it, why not just pay full price for the labour? better than turning your car into a rolling advertisement imho.

I'd go for just the sides (maybe put them in the two rear windows on each side) 500 dollars is a lot of money, and stickers can come off And like others have said, maybe you'll like the look after they are actually on there! Just my 2 cents
i know I've seen like 2 turbo 7th gens owned by individuals on here.. but this guy gets on and casually mentions he ordered his turbo kit.. and you guys are kinda calm about it.. is this thing readily available for anyone to order? Are there stage one, two, and maybe even three? Dyno results? 1/4 results? any info would be nice $3800 bucks is in my bank for sure..

ok d00d, if you have the 3800 for the turbo...you're obviously rich enough to pay for the labour.
b*tch slap them around a bit...get a deal if you can, but despite popular belief, stickers do NOT make your car go faster/look better.
jmo.
oh, and the only exception to the rule are the stickers on my car hehehe

I would also like to know more about this "Kit". I didnt know they made one yet, but if they do then I am all over this. I have been thinking about a custom, but might wait and see what comes out here in the future.
hey your stupid if you dont take the discount !
so put the stickers on and save the money so you can do more to your car if they are ugly just take them off later. it dont matter what your car looks like if people thinks it is funny they wont be laughing to long cause youll be smokin them !! hehehe

They are fully functional kits.. either air to air for $3400 or air to water for $3800 he recommended you buy larger injectors as well. I personally recommend clutch/flywheel... sounds like a solid kit, with what could be good results. I'm next in line. only 7 guys in his shop though.. these won't be mass produced.
if you have the cash to spend, i would rather pay 100% than let them put some crappy decals on my car, but if you are poor like us, then let them have as many stickers as they want! long as i get the turbo on my car!

Did they give you any HP numbers?
I'd like to see how many horses it pumps out...
See, the problem with you guys are "what's the hp?" "how fast is it on a 1/4 mile" blah blah,.....You think getting a turbo, and start stressing the engine is fun?....Well there's more to turbo if you want to go fast.... People keep asking me what's the hp?...1/4 mile?...well i'm not going to push my until everything a working perfect....People don't seem to understand that....you motor wasn't build for boost, and when you put turbo, the motor never seem boost...a big PLUS...you're not going to past smog test too....most likely.....
you can expect 7-12hp per pound of boost. How much boost you can run all depends on your internal strength... and how low your compression is. reinforce everything inside, then crank it up. look at it this way, a turbo charged civic with stock internals running only 6-8psi is still faster than the civics we're all driving. $3800 is expensive, but you aren't paying for 120whp.. you're paying for the possibility to achieve 120whp. on stock internals.. I'd bet 60-80hp to the wheels at the MAX
You guys been living under a rock for a few months? A few members on this site already have this kit and I believe Moocow is one of them. Can't remember the other members that have it. It is functional. From what I recall, the set up consists of : Garett t3-t4, wastegate, HKS BOV, air to air intercooler, upgraded injectors.

there's no way i'd put the boost past 5psi until the internals were strengthened...
but still, running 2/3 psi boost on stock would still give a nice upgrade in power. i agree that you don't just slam a turbo down and bob's yer uncle...it takes time to build everything (unless you're rich), and it takes time to do everything right.
i need to win the lottery
I sure wish my car was newer

Get the turbo. Tint your windows, I think limo tint in the back would make it look even cleaner by not having the break in the color of the car. Convince them to just put stickers on the side by the 7thgencivic ones. then take them off when you get home.
