Civic owners with Manual Trannys (question)

How much Clutch pedal travel from the floor do you have until the clutch starts to ingage? I have 9000 miles on my car and have been driving standard all my life, and notice I have about 2 to 3 inches of travel before it starts to grab, there is no adjustment and it seems to me thats a bit to much travel. BTW it doesn't slip and seems to work fine, so is this normal?

(Since i really don't have a problem I didn't know where else to post this)

yeah, its about that much. that kind of surprized me when i first drove it.
theres also quite a bit of travel from when the pedal is up to when it actually begins to feel like its releasing the clutch.

Mine is about 2 inches, 6k miles on it. It might've worn a little since I learned manual on this car, so maybe 2.5 inches now? But definitely the clutch has some dead room. But then, most manual transmission cars have that. At least, ones I've driven.

I might be wrong.... but my dad said that the engagement point is sometimes adjustable. You may want to ask the dealer about adjusting it so it engages quicker.

from my knowledge about clutches, i believe you cannot adjust our clutch's engagement point because the clutch in our cars is a hydraulic clutch, not a cable clutch, cable clutch can be adjusted by tightening the clutch...

You're right, I have a Service Manual at home and it stated that there is no adjustment, but it never mentioned how much travel in the pedal before the clutch starts to engage. Thats why I was wondering.

It don't hurt nothing. And you can't adjust it so you'll have to live with it.
