[hr]The supercharged AMG V8 engine, with its 5.5-litre displacement, develops a maximum output of 350 kW/476 hp (E 55 AMG) or 368 kW/500 hp (S 55 AMG and CL 55 AMG) and a maximum torque of 700 Newtonmetres. The new supercharged models deliver between 34 and 39 percent more output and 32 percent more torque than the previous models, which featured V8 naturally-aspirated engines. The result is performance worthy of a true sports car: the E 55 AMG sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds, the S 55 AMG and CL 55 AMG in 4.8 seconds, and all share a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically governed).[hr]

Yeah...they're just in a class of their own. Don't know if you've noticed this but today's Mercedes are just not as good as the previous generations, before they started going more mainstream.

Edit: Of course, I mean the more common Mercedes, like the C and E class...My father has a 1992 500E and that thing is waaaay better than most of the current E-class benzos.

I am sure these top-dogs are still built to a standard, rather than to a price-point.

My father has a few of the newer ones...I personally usually drive his '01 E320...it's real fast in my opinion.

Kids? I am a 23 year old college graduate and full time law enforcement officer. I do not consider myself a "kid" by any standards considering what I have seen and dealt with in my career thus far. Any money that my family might have has been acquired through hard work. Quit being bitter is right.
