cold temps with a cai
can the engine ever take in to cold of air? is it bad if you run a cai say on a cold fall/winter day or nite? just for thought call the temp 10 degrees F outside and u r equipped with a cai is it bad for the engine to suck in such cold air?

If you touch the top of the CAI pipe (where it enters the throttle body) it's quite hot... Just because of it's proximity to the engine. But if you feel down by the filter end, it's still cool.... Even if it's 10 F outside, it's not going to enter your engine at 10 F. So I doubt you have to worry about freezing your engine.
Boilermaker1 said it perfectly. Your engine bay itself is very hot jus cuz heat stays under the hood as well as it does. The filter on a CAI is further away to the engine bay whereas a SRI will be a lil hotter.
