need for speed?
I just want to say I really like my car but thinking it is fast, I do not. That begs the question.
What is fast?
The fastest I have heard of a RSX doing a 1/4 mile is 13.28 with a 75shot, (clubrsx)
It also seems that 300zx tt's and supras with a few mods will do about the same 13.5 (300zx and supra forums)
Corvette's (78-90) with minor mods start getting in the 12s and Mustangs (87-95) with
minor mods do 12s fairly consistently and as low as 10.24(all mustang forum).
How can a Civic compete with that even with a K20 swap? It seems to me the easiest and cheapest way to
go fast would be to buy a 87-95 5.0L and drop a couple of bucks into it. 12s period.
Sure it looks ugly and I'd rather push a Honda than drive a Ford but really. it is tempting.
I was just bored and did a little research at other forums.

Well, the question is really yours... What do you want?
Do you want the fastest car period? OR (i.e. do you want to compete pro?)
Do you want a nice looking car? OR (i.e. want to impress the ladies?)
Do you want a daily driver? (i.e. you want some sort of compromise?)
Man... I've had the most stressed out day... Am I going nuts?

also compare the prices of those cars to ours. reliability and also gas mileage... truth is our cars just arent meant to be raced. its an economy car, not a sports car.
I'm not feeling that 13.2 RSX. Obviously on a RSX forum you're gonna have some tall tales. I mean stock it does a 14.8. You'd need some serious turbo, or at least something more than a 75 shot. I'm sure this will bring flames from the RSXers out there, but come on

I think my point is...there is no point in dropping alot of money into engine mods on a civ
if you want to go fast. i/h/e (~2000cdn)=2-5 hp. Even a supercharger or a turbo or a K20 will
not make you faster than most v8s.
I want a daily driver that is cheap and a fast car to drive on weekends
What I have is an expensive daily driver that looks good. : )

sorry this wasn't meant to be b!tchin', just a realization I had
and exp I'm sure your not nuts.

The 92-95 civs were economy too and they were faster and had more potential, The ones' we have now are ULEV, I think that is the problem
and 13.2 RSX was a F/I with a 75 shot and apparently they showed their slips. best on the sight as of yesterday.

gotta a friend round here with a 13.7 at 107.87, 95 civic, a rsx stock going 14.8 and then putting a 75 shot i still dont think a 13.2 is in reach, knocking 1.6 seconds off the time for the price of nitrous, i dont think so at least

I want a ford? Are you gonna tell me that if you could make a clean trade of your civic for a new Cobra R, you'd turn it down? I'd take a cobra, or a GT anyday. Its not that I don't love my civic, but come on, mustangs are good cars and ford isn't a bad company. I would personally never buy a Chevy though, their attention to detail is very low.
Civ can compete, look @ the new super street some civs are runnin like 8.1, thats fast for a civ, i have a couple friends that have bad a$$ civs, one is a 93 Si w/ gsr swap and turbo, and one is a 00 si w/ large turbo, the 00 ran a 13 flat and thats after him spinnin boiggin down then goin, the fastest civ are the older one becasue they don't have all the emissions crap on them. Hell my old hatch was a dx w/ just a few mods and i could out run the new v6 mustangs w/ no problem and out ran my girls new EX, and my car only came w/ 93hp, i think the older motors are better than the new ones honda is using.
If I could trade in my GT-S for my old 96 stang, believe me, I would. I could have spent a couple thousand dollars and fixed the cars struts and brake problmes and still have money left over to do even more to the car. I have spent around $2100 in car payments on this car, and I owned the cobra.

more than a plain jane mustang with i/h/e and the stang would run 12s. I know I almost bought a 93 si last week to do up! (note to self: this could be backlash from that experience, it went for 3750cdn! as a right off!)
