i have seen alot of them painted. Supermex's ride is an example
probably because people want to show off how much money they spent on the hood. "ooh, carbon fiber! look at me, bling bling! my car looks like sh*t with this ugly-*** black hood but that's ok 'cuz now my car is 1000 lbs. lighter 'cuz it's CARBON FIBER!!! instant 50 HP!!!"
unpainted CF hoods = rice.

Whoa there, billy. CF hoods aren't like body kits. They aren't MADE to be painted. Carbon fiber, standing alone, has cosmetic appeal. You don't see anyone ordering fiberglass dash kits, do you? No. However, it is a widely known fact that many people like the look of carbon fiber as is. Would you say that ordering a carbon fiber dash kit and not painting it is rice? I sure hope not.

thanks for mocking me at that low of a level...
I have seen carbon fiber painted with the candy paint finish. Also some people are starting to buy the colored carbon fiber hoods. CF unpainted is tight... everybody has their opinion though.

i agree i like mine unpainted. if you paint it whos gonna know its CF? hehe
but pretty much all carbon fiber hoods come with a plastic protective layer on top. this is what gets painted, not the CF itself.
Cheers

EDIT: My hood is black with blue tint...Its the new style of CF. So if i painted it, i would have wasted a ton of cash getting a "blue tint" CF hood.

Maybe the sides. I would do the sides on mine I guess... Kinda makes the paint go around the headlights, so that you can get black projectors and they look nice. They don't merge with the black CF hood, so they stand out. Know what I mean? I might do that and get projectors.

a white car with a black carbon hood? come one! did you get it for weight savings or for looks? 99% of the people will tell you for weight savings. if THAT is true, why dont you paintematch it to your car?
ill tell you why. cause you like rice. unless you drive a black car, there is NO reason you should have a black carbon hood.
your car is green? blue? yellow? they make carbon in those colors now! if you like the texture, you can get carbon in the color of yoru car. Right on, 2k2baller!
the rest of you, if you dont think that carbon can be painted, think again!
lemem ask you all again. why did you get that carbon hood? (not to mention that 6 inch exaust tip that matches your 6" tach bolted ot your dash) was it for WEIGHT? or for LOOKS? i think a few people will answer differently now..... (and claim they said it that way all along.....)

Ok. carbon fiber LOOK is a trend. Just like high pitched cans of exhausts that sound like a buncha bees in a can....also like Underbody Neons....brad pitt....maat daemon..things that come and go. Whtehr you liek it or not is up to you, but I personally like the carbon fiber look and what little benefits for wieght I get from a hood. It is a show thing, just like giant tachs, and exhaust tips. Anyone who says otherwise is fooling themselves, and making themself look like a fool.
A carbon fiber hood is my plan to add to the LOOK of my car. If I want weight sdavings I'll strip out the interior and buy carbon fiber fenders and trunk (that I thik is way over board but oh well).
If I want to buy a carbon fiber hood to show off the fact that I'm into the tuning scene I'll do it. Painting it is a waste of money.
Personally I like the feel of lifting your cf hood rather than the look. I'm not about to buy a cf hood to tell you i want to go fast in a civic because i just lost x number of lbs and now ill be doing 12s. Personally, I'm saving for a prelude in the future to mod out (and a match color cf hood is on the list) because at least a prelude with a turbotronics turbo can at least move. Dont get me wrong, my civic is a GREAT car for everyday driving. But 'fast' and 'civic' can't be used in the same sentence without the phrase 'thousands of dollars'
