Rep Power: 0 This picture is off of the honda.co.jp site. since they clain its a jdm engine, I thought I'd look. The swap appears to be missing the cover that says "I vtec".

Rep Power: 0 its real!!!! go to hasport.com and click on projects then 2001 civic ex and feast your eyes on the rsx powerplant that now resides in its engine bay. all they did was fabricate new motor mounts - looks like all that welding work that import builders did on htowns civic isnt needed. pics dont lie.

Rep Power: 0 If that other link didnt work for you go here http://www.hasport.com/01Civic.html
Sounds awesome.. I contacted area 51 (they are about 30 mins north of me..) and it sounds good for a k20 swap finally... I am intested in following up on hasport's swap too.. hopefully they will give us more info.. I plan on doing this once I find someone who has done it successfully.

Rep Power: 0 I gotta say I am really impressed with this. This is not really a surprise - I've known about Dr. Charles and Area51's intentions to put the Type R engine into a Civic for about 5 months now (even before I shipped my car to IB). Dr. Charles and Jeff Schaeffer used to work together at a shop called Atomic Performance, but they parted ways and opened up their own shops (Area51 and ImportBuilders).
Jeff knows about Area51's work, I am really interested in hearing his thoughts on their new hybrid. Hopefully I will be getting my car back this weekend or next, and will be able to do some comparisons once I go down to LA to pick the car up.

I definitely give them mad props for completing the swap, but despite what they say, it's not like they spent a week on this and then presto everything worked correctly. When I read posts from Area51 saying "Yeah we just spent 3 days putting the mounts on and then some wiring and that was it", I just kind of smile.
