Tinting the sunroof.....
Hello, I have a friend that says that you should not tint the sunroof of any car but I think that it doesn't matter. Could it damage the sunroof?........help
I wouldnt see how it would cause any more "damage" then it would like when you tint ur regular windows... So why not? go for it.

if we cant tint the sunroof the why do people tint their other windows? lol i got 5% on my windows and tint on my sunroof(stock) lol, so newsflash!!!! everybody take off your tint, its gonna ruin your glass!!
Dont tint the sunroof!!
Besides the fact that its already tinted, it will cause it to explode, its pressurized glass, and reflecting the light back up into it will cause it to overheat, crack, then explode onto your head....
Don't do it....

WOW! Explosions? Car interiors are totally unable to hold air pressure... there are too many holes into the outside - air vents, around the doors, etc. to blow a sunroof out anymore than any other window.
Every car I've ever had with a factory sunroof has been tinted and usually much darker than what is legal for side windows AND window tinting is designed to reflect light/heat away from the interior (that's why it was invented originally - not just for looking cool).
Now, I have heard of aftermarket roofs shattering, but that has to do with improper installation or poor quality.
Tint away I say, be careful not to damage the glass & you'll be fine.

um, i think you totally misunderstood what i said....
The sunroof glass is presurized, like double pane glass in homes. If you tint the underside of it, that will in effect reflect the light back through the glass and potentially heat it up. There have been cases, although rare, where the glass of the sunroof could crack and shatter.....
This has nothing to do with the interior of your car. I don't know where you got the idea that the whole car would explode, that's absurd....
Anyways, its already tinted, so there should be no problem...

And from the thickness of all the sunroofs I've ever had, there's no way it's 2 layers of glass and a gas-filled volume inside (you'd have a half inch thick window). The other stuff (regular house-like window glass) would shread you in a rollover (all those sharp shards)... any legal sunroof will shatter into the little cubes like your side & back windows (the front has a plastic laminate layer inside to help keep you from shooting through in a crash if you're wearing no belt).
So, go ahead, you can tint your sunroof without worry.

Oh, BTW - never thought the whole car would explode, thought you meant a build up of heat/air pressure would pop out the window but, whatever.... may the sun never burn the top of your head.
