dunno about teh e-brake, but the shifter comes out easy. you remove the shift ****, the two screws on either side of the back of yoru console, and the two plugs on either side of teh front of the console. oh, i think there are two in teh center, too. the change tray should just pul off, and there will be two screws under there?

after you have all these screws out, the console will lift right out. the shifter panel is held in with screws, itll come out easy. I dont remember if you have to take off the boot, its been awhile, but regardless, the silver bit is held in by clips all around. its REAL hard to get those out by hand, id reccommend using a screw driver to pop them out. once you get the first one out, the rest will go real easy.

and you got yoru silver ring out.

good luck with the e-brake.......

the ebrake has to be pulled off, it comes off as one peice it just needs to be pulled rather hard because it is held on by glue.

I painted that part . . . take out the center console like it says in the headunit removal DIY. Then look at the front of the gear shifter, there should be 2 screws that come off with a phillips head screwdriver. Pull off the gearshifter and then I think you take off the clear plastic piece that goes over the gears (park, neutral, drive, etc.). Then just look at it, it should pull off. I don't remember exactly which way to pull it but after you've taken all those pieces off you can see exactly where the clips are. I think there's 4 total.

I did this about a year ago but I'm pretty confident that's exactly how to take it off. Once you take off the gearshifter just eyeball the area around it, it's pretty easy to figure out.
