If you had an auto LX
If you had an auto LX
If you had an auto LX would you even waste your time and money on performance mods or would you just go for looks (maybe even an exhaust, I know my head turns when I hear some drive by with an exhaust). Any thoughts???

I just want to thank all of you who gave me some answers to my question, unlike some other morons who probably dont know what they're talking about when it comes to their Civic. And keep those suggestions coming.
You know,
5-speeds are only faster if the driver knows how to drive one well
And the EXs aren't all that much faster
Modding it out (with what is our right now) doesn't help our cars out that much either, if you have the money to pour into the car for that little HP increase - EX or LX, doesn't matter much - then go for it...
I'm just focusing on appearence for mine right now, nice and clean..
Then later when I get my car paid off, I might go for some preformance mods.. maybe then they'll have some more fun stuff out that'll actually make a difference in our cars.

If you plan on doing some heavy modifications(i.e. forced induction) to it, the tranny won't make a big difference. If you're only planning on simple bolt-on performance mods, I would say to concentrate more on the "show". That's just my opinion, tho- you can do whatever the hell you want to.

For suspention I got ground control coil overs, koni yellows dc upper strut and lower tie, looks i have the octane body kit, kaminary wing, cf hood, ordering corbeaus and red n black leather interiour, and for preformance aem intake, kamakazi header, and thermal exhaust. Thats just my layout, do whatever u want just thought i would give you some ideas.

you know...if it makes you feel any better, autos respond better to Turbos and Nitros...its uses them better because it shifts at the right time...
yeah if you wanna go for performance your auto will work just fine!

I have an LX Auto. Did'nt buy it for speed. I mean come on, it's an Auto. Everything going into it is for show. I'm smart enough to know that this b!tch ain't going anywhere, so I'm not even going to waste my money on Exhaust's, Intakes, and other Mod's pertaining to the dream of attaining more HP. Hey if you want to make your car sound like a Lawnmower, that's your business. For me, I just want something that looks good. I'm old enough to know that Street Racing is just stupid, and I ain't going to the Track, so all my money will be spent on aesthetics.

I have an LX auto.. gosh it's not like the EX is Super Godly over the LX because of the 12hp increase. haha, eventhough i wish we had purchased an EX....hmmm ...i wanted sunroof.

Lol, that's what I'm saying...
The only thing I'd really really want from the EX is the sunroof
i would agree with a couple others who said do whatever you want, cause that is true, its your car and you know your budget so if you have the money to make it fast then go for it , otherwise just make it flashy so you can get the ladies...

You should just face the fact that your car is an econobox and not a race car. That's how Honda designed it, and if you look at the performance modders complaints, you'll find this fact proven again and again and again
Anyways I'm a 'show' guy not a 'go' guy so its just my opinion, do with it what you will.

no, if I had an auto LX, I wouldn't even waste my time and money on performance modifications... I will probably go for looks more, thats if I even care to go for looks. however, if I want to make some cool noise, I may get some aftermarket exhaust or an intake...
here are some things some people on the forum should realize.
1. A 1.7 liter SOHC engine tunned for mileage and low emission level will not be going fast without a substaintial amount of investment in time and money. VTEC or no VTEC.
2. Although some may beg to differ, the difference between a manual and auto is definitely there. especially in a car such as ours. It may not be that much different in a tunned up 500 hp Supra, but in a light economy car, every horsepower and torque counts. The drivetrain lost in an automatic is more significant compare to a 5spd. And the gear ratio plays a significant role in how much power you have to your disposal. (5 speed versus 4 speed) This of course, depends on the drive of the manual transmission, how well he knows his power curve of his vehicle, his shift points, etc.
3. the fastest 7th gen civic, stock and excluding Si is the 5spd EX Coupe, compare its speed to the rest of the vehicles out on the market... its speed is ALMOST AVERAGE. throw in 3-4 passenger, its speed is BELOW average. Include the Si. The speed is AVERAGE. (There are PLENTY cars out there that can do high 15s)
if I said something wrong, feel free to correct me... (with correct info... of course)
I got a silver sedan and I'm going for show, as for racing it . . . I don't think it's a good idea even if ya had a manual coupe. Our cars are not fast, you can spend 2000 on nitrous and I/H/E and it's still not going to be that fast. . . put a system and rims on it and drive around real slow to show it off.
I put intake and exhaust just to make up for the weight I added with my system, and that probably didn't even make up for it anyways. If you do add intake or headers you might not feel much of a difference and might regret what you put the money towards. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you to all the members who gave me answers to my questions. I have some ideas now. here they are, feel free to comment if you like. 35% tint all they way around, rear section only exhaust, and graphics on the doors with what small funds i do have.
I have an auto LX man. I put I/H/E and body kit, rims, streetglow, lowering springs dark tint, 7.5 inch screen, all sorts of stuff. Do what you feel is right and apeals to you. Have fun with your car.
I have an auto LX sedan, and i've done a fair amount of mods. No real engine mods though, only the HKS rear section. I only got it cuz it was extremely cheap, plus it was brand new in box
. We all know our vics arent fast, whether you have a EX, LX, 5speed or AT, our cars are not exactly rockets. Im happy with my vic, and thats all that really matters
. I dont race, so my car doesnt really have to be fast. The only thing I wish I had was leather and a sunroof. Thas about it.

Everybody I know talks about racing and **** like that. I bought my car with one thing in mind, to put fat chrome rims on it. I recently bought a aem short ram intake cause the chromes made the car heavy and a little shaky too. Putting in the intake made it feel a little lighter. I bought some projectors and taillights for look. Yea they can all smoke me in a race, but when i hit the club, i get all the ladies.
