Probably the RX-7... though I wouldn't mind a Supra, I've driven one before...

None could keep up with light
I think the Supra has a higher maximum level of perfomance when totally fixed up.

The Supra is a beast man....plenty of 800+ hp Supra's running around here (the US that is). And yes, twin turbo RX7's are not known for lasting long.

If the car was to be used as a daily driver, I'd pick the Supra in a heartbeat. It gets pretty expensive replacing your engine every 80,000 miles. Mazda says the new RX-8 rotary should be a lot more reliable, but we'll have to wait and see.

depends on what i want it for. if im going to keep it near stock, RX7 all the way. If im going to modify to for track racing, RX7. If im going for power, straight line speed, and/or a haevily moded daily driver, im going with the supra.

daily driver - supra (though I'd prefer not to drive either one daily)

track, autocross (weekend car) - rx7 (how about miata with rx7 motor? )

drag - supra

Well you are in the minority then, because very few Supra owners keep their cars just to take out to the track. In fact, the whole point of having a Supra is so you can have a fully decked out interior complete w/pimp stereo system and huge 18" wheels and still run 11's. There are very few Supras out there that are modified to be a race-only car.

What exactly do you mean by this? Mazda is not producing the RX-7 anymore and the RX-8 is coming next year. They both use rotary engines (although I'm not sure you can swap the RX-8 rotary into the old FD chassis). They are both targeted around the same price range new and are targeted toward the same demographic.

If the RX-8 is not a replacement for the old FD RX-7, then I don't know what is.

Nothing is, because they still make the RX7, just not for the North American market.

Incorrect. Mazda has announced that they will stop manufacturing the 3rd gen RX-7 sometime during the Fall of 2002.
