ok so i have a friend thats selling a
'96 civic DX HB with 120,000 miles - only 20k on the rebuilt engine
16'' rims, lowerd, tinted windows, and a kicking stero for $3500
good deal??? and how much would it be to swap out the engine?

Uh not worth buying a car witha rebuilt engine in my opinion especially that new of a car. As far as the engine swap well the price depends on what engine you want to throw in there and if you intend to do the swap yourself.

$3,500 is resonable, but that is ALOT of miles for only 6 years of work.
Also with the mods and such, you know he was pushing the car pretty hard. But you also said he is your friend, so he won't lie to you or anything like that right?
As for the engine swaps, try the Previous Gen Civics section.

You could prolly get that car for around $3,000. If you are going to swap the motor, it shouldnt matter if the engine was rebuilt or not. I would say a 6th gen hatch for around $3,000 with that mileage is a good price.
