FUNNY SMELL!

Newbie here again!

I"m a newbie driving manual AND i don't seem to be doing anything wrong BUT when I get out of the car, it smells funnie.

New car, so I"m not sure if it's the TIRES or the CLUTCH.

ANYONE know?

Here's how I drive.

1st gear --> lift up the clutch a little to get the friction point, gas a little and then release the clutch a little more and GO. a smooth motion

2nd gear to 5th gear --> clutch and gas.

OK, i have how LOW i have to press the clutch compared to other cars I've driven SO do I have to press all the way? I usualyl press half way and it still works. I just don't know if that'll kill the car since my friend drives like that and his car has been running fine for 2 years now.

DOWNSHIFT --> I usually try to match REVs.. still hard for me since it goes from 1000 rev at 4th gear to 3500 at 3rd. I release really slow...

HELP!!!> what is that smell?

hmm, could be your starting out on the clutch, but perhaps you're braking way too hard?

New car

maybe thats the thing
its a new car

When I first got my civic it smelled funny too
but in time in went away

BTW did you break into your motor yet?

Because if you haven't broke into the motor yet and you tend to rev real high then the smell is going to be stronger

yeah I was so worried about the break in period, I would hate buying used I would wonder if the person before me broke in right and treated it good. How many miles are on it?
