M2 Collision of Seaside, CA and your 7th Gen Civic
Okay... I had an accident in Seaside, CA which is a lil' over 100 miles from my house. The car was forced to remain there because I didn't have enough $ to tow it. (I have Geico Insurance, full coverage. They will tow the car up to 50 miles for free.) The car was put into a towing yard, and I went home the next day.
Since then, Geico did their estimates, and I tried to get a way to get my car back over here. Once I got the estimate from the body shop over the phone (M2 Collision, an insurance company recommended place) they said they had ordered all the parts and for ME to call them back to give them verification that it was okay for them to work on my car. It took me a week to discover that I couldn't get an affordable way to tow it up here in Oakland and I was just like forget it... let them fix it. To my surprise, the body shop had called a day later and said that the car would be done next week and they had already started fixing it without my verification! WTF?
They said that it would be done on Thursday June 20th (it was already the previous Tuesday when they told me this)... and I'm like, okay whatever... so all I needed was a ride. I called them on Thursday of the previous week and they said that it would be done on Tuesday the 18th! I'm like, wow! They're early! It didn't take me long to find a ride. I was going to have my bro drive me up there in his GS-R but we opted to go in our friend's Chevy Tahoe.
When Tuesday the 18th came, they told me the car was not ready! That it was "on time" and would be ready on Thursday. WTF... disappointed? Strike one. So we didn't go.
I had went to M2 Collision's webpage to see what the company was all about. As advertised, they showed that they were a company about being on time. I'm a considerate guy - really - maybe even a little too nice sometimes but I still had some trust in them that it would've been done on the day they first promised.
So we drove to Seaside on Thursday and found the place. It's a 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive from my house. It wasn't too hard to find. I saw my car with the hood up and the spare tire on (because the original was severely damaged in the accident that it had to be replaced) and I thought I didn't see a headlight on my car from looking at it at the side of it from a distance. I went to their compact main office to get the status of my car and the lady said that it would NOT be done today.
I'm thinking to myself... "You b!tch..."
She said the car still had to be re-aligned - but they were supposed to finish does that two days ago!
So i got to see the car up close. My main concern was the car's paint job. To say the least, it was not a concern anymore. My car was missing the following:
Left headight, thus...
The outter bumper
The inner bumper w/shock absorber
Right door handle
Left tire (spare tire on)
Everything under the hood was in tact. The hood was refinished, the right fender was replaced and painted, BUT the right rear view mirror was still damaged, along with the door. Umm.... okay... you know, you CAN'T finish a paint job in a day... nor could it be finished the next day when they haven't even started! But why didn't they do all the paint jobs at once? It makes me think that they are either unorganized or forgetful! But with the right door handle missing, I hope that explains something. (I dunno if it was damaged...) Still, the disappointment from feeding me expectation of "on-time work," made me bitter from their tardiness. On top of that, they KNEW I lived 100 miles away from this place! I feel as though they should have notified me and now, I am estimating that my car should be done oh, I dunno... whenever the lady says so again? F'ck that! Insurance got called up by me and I am going to have a 3-way conference with them and the body shop.
This is bullsh't.
I just had to vent. They say disappointment is the root of knowledge... I've learned that you should NOT go to this shop. (There are more around the state of California...) I just wanted to spead the hate... er, warning.

Good Luck man, and dont take it back till its finished, and make sure you get a copy of the warrenty on the body work and paint.

That's what happens when you have crap insurance from a crappy company like Geico......but hey atleast they have funny commercials you can watch while your sitting at home waiting for your car to be fixed!

i have geico too....the only good thing about them is that they pay off your car when its totalled, and they give ya over the blue book value. at least they did for my when i wrecked my previous 2 cars....the car was towed to some collision place...and they totalled it out right there. i got a lil over 8200 on a 97 tercel....the blue book was like 7200 or some crap like that. but i hate geico. they are stupid and send you to cheap repair places. but really, do you expect to get good work from a place that takes insurance referrals? i don't. but thats just my opinion.......
You know what I wish sometimes it would be okay to slap people around for being punk a$$'s. I hate dealing with any kind of shop unless I know the person, because they are out to please themselfs and not you. Forget them don't pay them a single dime.
