Stickersss....Shouldn't they be free???????
ok...i don't understand why we have to pay to have this site's sticker on our cars, when its for their advertising purposes!
Like if u go to a store you dont pay to put one of their stickers on ur car, coz its good for them...
Like believe me i like this site, and its not even the $6, coz its not much for 2 stickers its just the whole headache with buying! IMO it should be sent out to all the actual members who use this site on a daily basis, not those people who have like 64 posts since last OCTOBER...those people come just for fun once in awhile, im talking about the people who use this site daily basis and help out other ppl...
So maybe we can start getting those stickers sent out for free, i would like to have one of the stickers on my car, its just not worth paying for (not coz of the money) just the whole hassle with buying it as opposed to sending it through the damn mail!
OK put ur input please

No, D needs a way to help him pay for the site, and stickers are a way of income that he can use to support the site, we currently dont pay him for anything else. You are just bein cheap, it costs something like $230 a month for him to keep this site running, he needs all the money he can get

If you owned this SITE... would you have enuff money to provide ALL 3000 members with stickers.... PLUS pay for the software and domain space in the web monthly.....??
maybe if you DOnated $100 bucks D will hook you up but as for now.... my explanation should say it ALL

LJ is right your just being cheap....... you shouyld be thankful we have a site to chat about our cars

It's simple. There is a cost associated with the production of the stickers. This cost becomes a loss if they are free. It's absurd to believe that you should receive an item for free when another person incurrs a cost associated with the production of such item.
I fail to see your argument about it being a hassle; that's just silly. If you don't want them, don't buy them.

Like i said...its not the money, U HONESTLY THINK THAT I THINK $6 IS TOO MUCH? it really just is the hassle... like i know there is 3000 users but how many of those come on everyday and post or ask questions and use this site fully? not even 1/4 of them!
like the whole license plate frames thing, yea u should pay for that by all means, but i mean its stickers its a lot cheaper then license plate frames...
i dunno..

1st off, this should be in OT. second, trying to get yer post count up by posting retarded topics in here wont get u far. and third, u cant fork over 6 dollars? what hassle? the hassle of paypal that takes 3 minutes then the hassle of gettin off yer lazy @$$ to check the mail box? lol... IMO... still a noob.
Have you ever taken any economics or accounting courses? If so, you understand the fact that there are production costs incurred with the stickers--set up charge, minimum number of stickers to be purchased, applicable taxes, etc. From this, there must be a ROI (return on investment). A person would have to be stupid to foot the bill for all of the stickers plus postage.
You have failed to demonstrate that a hassle exists, and I contend that you simply do not want to fork over $6.

Dude, just shut up while you're ahead...
The site owner needs money to pay for the site, the stickers give him an income he can use...
...if you want to play $20 a month to use the site and get a free sticker go ahead..
..I rather pay $6 for a sticker and view the page for free..
AND if all 3000 members get stickers just for posting and maybe 500 members actually put them on their cars... and there is NO way of making a profit for all of his hard work in making the site.. tell me HOW FAIR IS THAT...
okay, thats my 2 cents.

Dude, you need ur driver's license revoked, its ricers like u who give imports a bad name. This site is for advice, its not ebay selling junk to make a profit. All u are doing is trying to get ur post count up, i think Derek should ban you from the site!! Do you even donate money for the web space????? ur still a newbie, look how many posts u have and you just joined this month, if u use the site so much, why didn't you do a search on this topic??? its already been posted before!!!!!!!!

Okay if this was a business site, like a Store selling parts, an offering a forum on the side for memebrs..a free sticker could be understandable. But this site is not a busienss and thus advertising to gain more members would not get D any profit. It's advertising to make a FREE community of 7th gen civic drivers.
"It's not really the money" not really..but partially. If this site was Nopi or Tornactive or somethign else, than a free sticker with any purchase would be reasonable..
Cheers

i bought stickers (and donated 20 bucks) because i know how much it costs to run a website, and this is a great site. the stickers are a way for D to get a little money to help with the costs. if you can't see that then you shouldn't be here. i personally can't wait till D makes the members pay, i feel almost bad not paying for the great thing he gives us. also when it becomes a pay site we'll see who the real members are. IMHO.

my god slammed, i havent seen one good post from you, pw.
It costs money to make stickers.. why would he put himself even more in debt?
where do you think he makes money? He spends, i think it was 200, a month to keep this place running.
no one pays anything to use this place. The advertisments i believe are only giving discounts for him setting them up here.
Even if it was good advertisement, whats the advertisement going to do? have more people use his site freely?
do a freakin search once in a while. IMO your being cheap.
you dont think it would be a hassle to send stickers to 4000+ members for derek?
how about you make 4000 stickers and send them to all of us since you think its such a good idea.

Yeah there was a post about this awhile back, actually all this talk and stuff is making me think more about getting some stickers I haven't really donated anything. I have like 1,000 + posts and I am on here a lot I do feel like a free loader sometimes. But yeah when the first post on this came up I thought it was bull paying for stickers but even a emblem on my windshield cost $15 to make so I can see why he is charging, yeah he make a lot of them and save money in bulk but still they are not free.
Yeah I would pay money to join this site because I seriously have learned a lot from here and I think D made a big investment in this site and I feel that stickers and frames would really help spread the word of 2k1civic.com. Well yeah it may be a hastle for some people to buy stickers but yeah what do you pay to be on here?
Nick

and on top of all of this, i'll bet anyone $20 that slammed wears shirts with ralph lauren, or abercrombie, or [fubu] printed all over the chest...
he probably also thinks he should get endorsement cash from honda for advertising "civic" in his member name
let me guess, you DIDN'T finish high school, did ya slammed!?

While I don't agree with pay web sites, I don't think the stickers should be free. The internet was never meant to be structured around a business model, and while I love this site, I doubt I would return if it were to become a pay-based site. I would probably start my own, or just not frequent any site about the 2k1's.
However, when someone makes a product that is tangable, I assume that there will be a cost associated with it. The only reason some companies give them out is advertising. This site probably doesn't draw tons of money simply from the # of eyeballs, and thus wouldn't benefit from free advertising enough to make it worthwhile. If there is one thing that the I-net bubble's burst taught us is that advertising on websites doens't generate very much money at all.

According to slammed, it's not "really the money", it's PayPal. It takes two seconds to sign up for a PayPal account, and once you've got one, any time you conduct business online you can use it. Hell, when I sell on eBay I get pissed off if people don't pay with paypal because it's so damn simple. Injen gave me a free license plate frame with my CAI. RAZO gave me a free sticker with my pedals. They did this because I gave Injen around $200 and I gave Razo $50 in the first place, so they take a little bit out of there profits so they can "advertise" (although the stickers and plate frame aren't on the car, oops). These stickers are more of a fund raiser. It's like when the girl scouts sell cookies to support their activities. Derek's just trying to support this site, as the ads are very very light compared to most web sites, and with the bandwidth and the new dedicated server, the costs have to be pretty steep. He could always just take down the site and use the money on his car, but he'd rather see this site continue. If you don't like stickers, PayPal him a few bucks instead. As soon as I get my first paycheck of the summer, that's exactly what I plan on doing.
