Ok, so I need your help guys...
Ok, I got caught speeding today on the way to Hot Import Nights.
So this is the story.
I was going about 95ish and had my radar detector on.
I saw a cop on my left just as I passed him, and immediately slowed down. My radar detector is a good one and never went off, so I wasn't that scared.
So a few minutes later he comes and pulls me over.
I ask him why he pulled me over and he asked how fast I thought I was going. I told him about 75ish(65 zone), he said no try 85.
85? No, I was going about 95 and my detector went off. So, I told him that my detector went off and he said if you want to dispute take it to court.
Ok, so a few questions. BTW, I am 18, have never been in trouble, and this is my first ticket.
Is there any possible way, I can get out of this without any points? Double the fine, driving school, anything!
Is it doubled because it's a 65 zone?
Can I backtrack his radar to see if he actually did clock me at that speed? Like to double-check that he got me at that speed?
How many points would I get if I payed for it?
HELP!

u can't fight that.. he got the radar gun on u... make this a lesson for u.. go to TRAFFIC SKOOL FOR 400MINUTES AND your point will be cleared....
having a radar detector is not a deterent to cop.... u can't always depend on the detector . just because u have it doesn't mean u can getaway with speeding...
have u ever thought what the consequences will be if u crash????????

first of all.....there are ways you can fight it....
to begin with, if you truley believed that he didnt clock you at the correct speed, or clock you at all...all you had to do was ask him "may i see the radar detector, to see the actual speed?" he has to let you, and if he did clock you at 85, he can show you.....
another thing, if he did have that speed, there a few ways to fight this, go to court and when its your turn, ask a few questions, first: is this officer certified to use this radar detector? like half of all police officers are not..alright lets say he is...well then ask this "has this radar detector been calibrated?, if so then when?" again many radar guns are not calibrated, or have not been recently...if either of these are not true then your ticket should be dropped.....
alright say they got you on all of these, since it is your first offense you will usually be able to make a plea bargin, if you agree to plead guilty they can make you go to driving school, put you on traffic probation, ect...
when i recieved my speeding ticket, i did just this and all i had to do was be put on probation for 180 days, and pay the seat belt fine, they dropped the 100+ dollar speeding fine......
hope this helps..good luck

Well, the way you describe it your kinda screwed. you should go to traffic school to get the points cleared. I always tell peeps to fight every ticket, but if you were alone on the road and there is nobody else to blame saying the cop "radared" the wrong car, then you're stuck. You can always ask the judge for a reduced fine, or since its your first one tell him to suspend it for a year. If you get another ticket in the next year they both stick, but if you stay clean then it goes away.
95 ish in a 65 I don't care if you have a radar detector or not that is not a good idea. I have a radar detector the top of the line Bel and still I don't go that fast a 75 zone maybe 85 tops 90 still I mostly use my detector so I can sort of tell where the cops are, makes me feel a little better. But you got busted and depends on the state AZ I believe 23 or more over and that is a felony so you could be in some trouble.

You might be able to fight it and get away with it, like if the cop doesnt show up, but if this doesnt work, you will still have to pay the fine, but traffic school will stop the point from gettig applied to your driving report
the ticket wont be cheap, and the traffic school will cost ya a little bit too, jus take it as a lesson and it'll all be good

saying that u have a radar detector jus screwed u up... since he caught u speeding, u can't just drop the speeding. the judge won't let u. he might lower the fine but itz still a citation... just go to traffic skool and save the fuss about insurance raising...
not worth the battle......

There's no way to really fight it. The word of the police officer prevails--that's just how the courts work. You have do have some bargaining power being that it is your first ticket. You can ask the prosecutor for a plea arrangement (such as no points, just a fine and in some instances, ACOD (dismissal)). There is a very good chance you will end up with something more favorable than what the initial violation would have resulted in simply because of the fact that you have a clean record prior to receiving this summons.
No radar is needed to catch someone for speeding, it can be done by observation, and as far as RADAR detectors--the radar guns my department uses (the newer technology) usually result in the detector going off too late.

Ok, sounds pretty good.
See the problem is that my parents said if I get any speeding tickets they sell my car, and then I have to pay for everything.
So, Quick Silver, when I speak to the prosecutor will I still have to go to court or what? How does this work?
