Never race with auto in 2nd!
i never played around my gears before while driving but i thought that if i put it in gear 2 and floor it i would hold it in gear one but instead it felt like a lawn mower. i think if u put it in 2nd that it starts in second, is that true or is my 2k2 si/ex really that slow?

d2 is set in gear 2 mode... fastest it goes is about 20mph.... cuz the rpm is stuck at 4k n at 2nd gear... shift to d3 after u hit 20mph on 2nd.......comon man, think!
d2 is for hills!
d3 for city
d is for highway n city

D2 will keep the car in second... it's useful for starting up in snow where the torque of first gear will spin the wheels too easily AND it's useful if you are decending a large steep hill - it will use engine compression to help brake you instead of using and overheating your brakes.
It's NOT a race thing.

D2 is great for hills. When going to work, on an access road, there is an incline that I sometimes have to wait for. I just put it in D2 and let go of the gas and brake and it's sweeeeeeeeeeet. No rolling.
dude like theres
P- neutral with parking brakes
N-neutral
R- reverse
D4- starts in first gear and cycles to 4th gear (highest gear in auto), also the gear most people drive around in city or highway.
D3- starts in 1st and cycles to 3rd gear (good for highway passing)
2 - starts and keeps car in second gear, good for racing from 40 punch and city passing

Cool trick is when you're going up a steep hill, and you're at a stop light or whatever...if you put it into 2, and let go of the brakes, the car WILL NOT roll back...I usually put it into 2 when I'm on hills just to start out, then I'll push it up into D/D3 so I can pickup speed quicker...
