Do I?

Hey i went to get my oil changed today and the service guy told me i need to get several services done. I was like why? the manual said 10k miles is my next service. he showed me a new service manual booklet and the booklet were showing different time intervals compared to your manual schedule of services.
i asked him which should i follow and he said i should follow the new booklet because its most current updated service manual as of today. so do you think i should stick to the new service booklet he showed me or do you think i should stick and follow our manual schedule? Do you guys this is just another rip off just to make us pay more on unnecessary service?

New service booklet schedules (by miles):
3500
7500
10500
15000
18500
22500
26000
30000
33500
37500
41000
45000
48500 and so on......

Owner's Manual schedule (by miles):
5000
10000
15000
20000
25000
30000
35000
40000
45000
50000
55000
60000
65000

Personally I think 5000 miles is just way too long to wait to change the oil. I follow the service schedule that my dealer gave me simply because it can't hurt changing the oil so often and it's much cheaper than an engine repair down the road.

When I took my car in for the second oil change i noticed on the "reminder sticker" on the window told me to bring it back for its next service in 2200 miles. I was like WTF the manual says to change the oil every 5000 miles, so I tought it was a mis print, but now.................hmmmmmmmm, I wonder if there trying to pull something here.?????????

BTW I change my oil every 3000 miles reguardless of what the manual says.

if you wait 5000 miles to change your oil especially with 5w20 you deserve to pay for engine repairs

even though it says 5000 in the book is it better to just take it every 2500-3000 miles for an oil change?

Yeah I say atleast 5K I hate dealers they always try to getcha for stuff. But like my grandpa was saying he knows people who never changed oil in their cars and ran them 80k+ so who knows guess it just depends if you plan on keeping the car. Even the newer cars have sensors that tell you to change the oil but if you get to 10,000 miles and the light hasn't come on better get it changed. So I don't think anyone really knows these days when to get the oil changed I guess the owner decides.

i definately thinks its a rip off too, I mean they are charging me $99.99 just for the 7500 miles out of the new booklet that is mostly check ups of parts, they not even gonna do anything hard.
well i get my oil change every 3000, if i pass the 3 months and my car havent meet the miles, i don't go to the service yet? is that bad?

No, its not bad I got my oil changed around like 7,500 thats what my dealer told me so I did it. Then they told me to come around like March for my 2nd change and I am still not even close to the mileage they put on mine and thats for 3,000 miles so I am on the 5K change schedule despite what this dealer in this temporary town I am living in now says.
