Good info on the rsx swap
At the Atco show today a guy came up to me that worked for some motor mount somethinorother company in North Carolina. They're real close to finishing up the mounting kit for the rsx-s engine to fit into our cars. He's got the engine in and its working but they have to perfect the kit. It'll be ready by the SEMA Las Vegas show this year. We can all be happy now.
Q.? what ever happened to the engines rotatin dif ways an havein to replace the tranni? or is that lumped into the kit aswell?.. if so thats gonna be like a 6,000 kit plus I dont know how much labor

Grifter: We have to replace the tranny as well. Can't do it any other way. From the looks of the RSX setup, it's almost exactly the same as ours. Just need something like the Revo Technica short shifter for the RSX Type-S and you're ready to rock. That and the KumoSport DirectShift Conversion Kit. Yummy!
antidote11: You could just get an RSX Type-S, but I happen to prefer the 7th gen Civic body to the RSX body. The cost will be about the same now. Maybe later it'll be easer to do and cheaper as well?

In reality, the fact that the engine rotates clockwise now introduces a few complications. The engine now sits on the opposite side of the engine bay, so the battery and everything else in the engine bay needs to be relocated to the opposite side. If you look at photos of the RSX and EM Civic engine bays, they are literally mirror images of each other. There are also fitment issues - such as the fact that the existing EM Civic engine mounts can't be used (even though they are structurally identical to the RSX mounts) because they are on the wrong sides of the car. Same deal with the front crossmember.
ImportBuilders is getting an RSX into the shop sometime today, so they will be able to do a final exhaustive comparison of the two chassis' and see what other changes need to be made.

All of those eBay auctions on RSX kits are from salvage yards - I think if you can contact them directly they'd be happy to sell it to you for a decent price. And if you do buy the engine kit, be sure it contains all of the necessary components (they are described in the original RSX swap thread on this board).

This could be an intersting upgrade going forward. I would love it if its confirmed to be true cause I am kicking myself for getting an Auto when I should have gotten a stick, so it would be sweet to have a 200+ HP engine and tranny under the hood of my car.
And I agree that the style of the civic is nicer than the RSX, but thats just my opinion.
The fact that the new K-series engine rotates in the opposite direction doesn't matter. Think of the powertrain (engine, transmission, front drive axle) in terms of a 'black box' schematic. This black box connects to the front wheels and produces a torque motion that rotates the front wheels. As long as the black box does what it's supposed to do (provide motion power), no one should care how it does it. It can rotate clockwise, counterclockwise, heck there could be a hamster in there running around in there that produces all the power. As long as the black box works correctly in the host chassis, then we are ok.
