On vehicle 1, I perceive the sticker to "obstruct a view." Technicially speaking, nothing is supposed to be on those windows at all, according to New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. I also perceive that the spoiler obstructs a view.
On vehicle 2, it is the spoiler again. I would have to hear the muffler of the car before I could decide if it was harsh and unreasonable.
These are all equipment violations; I don't necessarily enforce these and can count on one hand the number of times I've written summonses related to these items. They've never been for a Civic, however. >>
DOT does NOT require a rear window in a vehicle. it is also therefore not illegal to obstruct this view as long as the side mirrors are there and in working order. manufacturers dont even need to produce the car with a rear window if they chose not to. this is why the MeLarren F1 can be made 50 state legal and DOT approved even with its solid intake running down the back of the car obstructing any view out the direct rear. >>
No offense, but I don't think you know my own state's motor vehicle laws better than I do. After all, it's my job.
. Please note that each state does reserve the right to set it's own requirements as to what a vehicle in that state must have--after all, it is the state which is responsible for registration and enforcement of vehicles. I would have the authority to summons for what I mentioned on those vehicles and the appropriate section number is NYS VTL Section 375 Subdivision 30, "obstructing or interfering with drivers front or rear view." As the law says, you may not obstruct the front or rear view. Registered!!

I had said that I "might look the other way," not that "I frequently ignore violations of the law where the actor is an operator of a Honda Civic," as you implied. Further, I have issued summonses to operators of Hondas, I have just not yet observed any violations involving a Civic thus far. People need to read things more carefully. I look the other way for plenty of things regardless of the type of car and my monthly summons records are reflective of it. As for the harassment issue, I won't entertain that with a reply and it has already been touched upon in previous posts.

JoeB16, you are confusing what DOT makes law and what DOT does NOT make law.
If the DOT says "HID lights are legal", then HID's are allowed in all states. HOWEVER, just because the DOT doesn't specifically "state" a law that says you have to have a rear-window, does not mean that you don't have to have one. There are certain vehicles that have exemption from the rear view law, which I believe are commercial vehicles. Commercial vans (not passenger vans), semis, etc.
Most states have a similar obstruction of rear-view law. That is that anything on your rear view window (ie, stickers) can be constituted as obstruction of rear-view. Up to the officer's discretion.
Another example is, if your vehicle comes from the factory with a rear window, then it MUST be kept free of obstruction, even if your state does not require a rear window. You are exempt from the "no rear window" law because your car comes with one. And in that regard, it must be kept free of obstruction. (though i believe all states do require a rear window for passenger vehicles, other than RV's)

Not everyone in here drives an EX. I've got an SiR/SI and so do a few other people in here. But that's all besides the point. These cars are just plain UGLY. Whenever I see a car like these I wonder how the people driving them dress?!?!? Obviously no taste whatsoever.
those neons are hilarious... and just so you know, if anyone added similar mods to a civic, i'd be laughing at them too...
as for the minor debate going on in here... specifically the one about whether it'd beat our civics or not... well, lets just say I'm saving my popcorn till screaminDOHC sees this thread hehehehehe

That's funny. When I went on my little roadtrip across the east bank of the US I saw some rice like that. Thankfully less rice out there than nice cars. At least the routes I took were like that. I hate seeing a nasty car with huge rims, a nasty wing, and a color scheme that a colorblind person came up with. Oh yeah, altezza's too. ::cringe:: I'm staying stock. Well, that is unless they come out with replacement tails that look stock and try not to copy the altezza.
I agree travii!!! Those are some fugly cars. I just saw a rediculous marroonish -purple dodge plymouth with a huge white wing, type r stickers, and a big exhaust tip. These people should be shot for driving such POS's. Your car is a reflection of yourself and your personal tastes. Id also like to see how these people dress!!

didnt want to read all the posts but i think those cars are crap.... but i cant wait to see what ppl will be doing to the newest ones when they come out. theyre already lookin pretty ricey as it is... more crap to the bucket, eh?
I dunno, I kinda like the rust-colored flames coming off the front of the green neon. And that Viper decal on a Neon .. Very stylish. And yes, I am being sarcastic. Good lord, somebody has terrible taste. And .. is that .. yeah, there's a big frickin' antenna on the roof of that green one too. What's that about? But at least they did it to a Neon, those cars are crap to begin with (no offense, but it's true - they're only designed to last about 5 years before sh¡t just starts falling apart)
Guys, please - if my car EVER looks even REMOTELY close to that, please tell me so I can kick my own *** ..
Thanks!!
