yeah, the RSX-S is the first thing that pops in my head.
maybe a Benz C-Class (the hatchback)
Celica GT-S?
VW Gti?
Miata MX-5?

these are all cars in the $20-$25k range, according to Edmunds.com
hope this helps

Also depends what you want on the interior. The WRX looks like a Geo on the inside and the RSX does too more or less. So look at that too.

hmm, if you can afford a wrx, i'd say get the rsx-s which is around 23000 before even haggling, and it haas leather, six speed and all that stuff... not dissing the wrx, it's awesome, but sometimes i think looks kinda funny, and the rsx looks great... that's my opinion anyway...

I would say MR2 if there was a hardtop version(I still don't understand why toyota ruined that car)...............Seriously, I would just take the WRX....seems to be the beat car in that price range. Or you could wait for the RSX-R, STi, EVO VII, 350 Z, and look at those

In that price range the WRX is the BEST "bang for your buck". I mean with 227hp and AWD it's THE sweetest piece of machinery around for $35k (CDN)....... plus there's a huge aftermarket for it as well....

That's awesome. I'm thinking about getting one when I get back from Korea next year.

I'd say get a GTI, except VW isn't known for reliability. You can't go wrong with a Celica GT-S, or if you want something less flashy, the RSX-S is always a good choice. If you want a pure driver's car, though, I think the Miata or MR2 spyder would be the way to go.
