V-Tec Question

ok, apparently since we're NOT allowed to say H0NDA (shhh!!!) I have to repost this ..

I have a 2k1 LX Sedan Automatic, and for some reason my valve cover only says "H0NDA" whereas every other picture I've seen it says "H0NDA V-TEC"
Anyone know why my engine bay got deprived of the "V-TEC" label? It would really suck if my car didn't have V-TEC performance.

Anyways thanks guy, any help is appreciated.

Cheers!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the LX is a non V-TEC engine.

like many said, "vtec" is over rated, at least in our vehicle, if it bothers you THAT much, you can always go trade the lx in for an ex, a few members already did that. but i heard that the non-vtec version of the engine is also better for boost due to lower compression...

First of all like everyone else said , LX is a non Vtec and second didn't you not notice that the Vtec solenoid was missing from your engine head? that's why your cover just says "H0NDA"

I also have a LX but a coupe.... trust me not missing much.. just in the parts deparment

Forbidden word? So far it's blocked me from saying H0NDA, ClVlC, and TURB0. I think maybe we need a new filter ..

And I feel better knowing there's a bunch of us out there with LX. When I first got the car, I didn't think much about the engine - it's my first car. Then The Fast & The Furious came out and that's when everything changed. Now I'm like the world's worst driver. *sigh*

Yup, now I'm all about rice-a-roni-fying my ride. Heh heh

I would not worry about it anyways, The only model with a full V-tech engine is the SiR (Si in the US). All generation 7 models are SOHC which are not very powerful to begin with just fuel effiencent. The SiR is a DOHC V-tech (newer models have iV-tech) engine which gives off about 30 hp more then the Si (EX in US). I took a the new SiR for a spin hit the 5500 rpm (v-tech goodness) I did not really feel the v-tech kick in, you can feel it more in the older SiR models.

What the hell is V-tech, or v-tec, or VEETech?

I'm surprised that on a dedicated Honda board like this one, so many of you still don't know how to spell this well-known Honda technology properly.

No dashes, no lowercaps, no 'h' ...... just VTEC

Yea, but the HX vtec is geared toward fuel conservation rather than additional power output... Well at least thats what keeps gettin told to me. VTEC-E(conomic) or some **** like that...

Full VTEC? WTF is FULL VTEC? As opposed to half-a$$ed Vtec?? lol. And the Si/SIR in canada is not the only DOHC VTEC engine either. lol

Nope. Type R is top of the line. Type S is GS-R line.

What's up with the new i-VTECs though? They don't seem to "kick you in the head" like the older ones.
