My 2019 Acura ILX w/ Type R Wing
Evening Folks, Here's a question to all car Enthusiasts. Why do all Spoilers/Wings people paint the middle part black/carbon fiber, and the sides to the body color?
I understand people think it looks Cool or Racer'ish, but what's wrong with all painted the same color?
I know,
Middle painted black/carbon fiber looks sporty.
All painted same color looks classy.
Personally I like both, but just wanna know why people do it. and if you paint it all the same color does it brand you as a noob, and same goes for the duo color wings, some kind of social status/ Racer wanna be?
Curious to see what Car Enthusiasts think,
Thanks

Re: Spoilers
Pretty much aesthetics.
My speculation: since the spoiler is almost always above a painted piece, painting the blade of the spoiler black will take a bit of attention away from the spoiler, while keeping the sides of the spoiler painted will keep it from disrupting body lines. Also, subtle color contrast for style points.
I say "almost always" because my hatch has the lower spoiler above glass, and the FK8 CTR spoiler is also above glass and the gloss black painted lower spoiler
