this article is so full of $^#% its unbeleiveable.

Incorrect Term: Nitro, Nitrous or Nitrous Oxide
Correct Term: NOS

Since The Fast and the Furious hit theaters, we noticed a marked decrease in the population that refers to nitrous oxide as "NOS". this is the actual correct term, as anyone who has nos in their car has exactly that - a Nitrous Oxide System.

Incorrect Term: Octane
Correct Term: Antiknock Index

you see, old standards for fuel enrichment are now obsolete. so rather than continue to use a perfectly good scale, we shall chage it to something that sounds more ricy. what you can do now, is rename it so that noone has a clue what your talking about, yet you sound like you know whats up. for an even better BSathon, since you cant have more than 100% of a rating, even if there is better fuel mixtures out there, is you can add a random letter and subtract 100. therefore, a fuel that is 2345 octane now can be said X-2245. ooooo, fuel X! your a racer now!

Incorrect Term: Rim
Correct Term: Wheel

why call it what it is, when you can call it what it is too? The rim, in a literal sense, is the small lip around which the tire bead sits. my 8 year old sister makes arguments like this.

Incorrect Term: Transmission (FWD)
Correct Term: Transaxle

why needlessly complicate things by only naming PART of a well known mechanical device? On a front-wheel drive car, the transmission, differential, and axles are all contained into a single unit

Incorrect Term: Horsepower
Correct Term: Torque

Torque is how strong you can get your crankshaft to turn. horsepower is the ability for that torque to do work. The literal definition of horsepower is the force required to lift 550 pounds of weight one foot in one second. since cars can NOT move any weight, whether by legs or wheels or other, horespower is a moot point, and is a useless term.

Incorrect Term: ECU
Correct Term: ECM

ECU stands for "Electronic Control Unit", which is NOT teh same as your ecm. look it up in the dictionary. again. "unit" is different htan "module" they cant be the same thing.

Incorrect Term: 5Zigen
Correct Term: 5Zigen

need we say more?

If you really want to sound like you know what you're talking about, read this guide - and then read it again. Then go to your friend who tunes camaros and find out the real story. a name is a name, and if that is the accepted terminology, then thats it.

silly ricer! you have to know what your talking about to sound liek you know what your talking about!

That has got to have been the dumbest thing I have every read...Wait no the second dumbest. The dumbest was a letter sent in to Sport Compact car (I think) asking why the Limited slip could not be found in the rear axle of an Integra . There are some pretty stupid people out there.
