On my father's Mercedes, if you pull at the hood ornament, it is attached to a cable. If you pull even harder, it will trip the alarm, and the alarm on new Mercedes is not only extremely loud, but if it is not deactivated within a certain period of time, Mercedes will have a police car sent to the location of where the vehicle is through the GPS system....I believe this is on 2000 and up models.

A few years back there was a story in the news about a guy who kept having his mercedes hood ornament stolen. He replaced it 3 or 4 times then got fed up and rigged up a stun gun to the cable so when they tried to pull it out BZZZZZZZZZZZTTTTTT. He got arrested and fined for neglegance or something equaly rediculous.

Gotta love America Someone comes up with a smart way to defend his property and the courts are more interested in coddiling the theif than protecting the original property owner. This is why if you must defend yourself at any point, I'd go the whole way and kill whomever posed a threat. If you shoot to wound you will most likely lose a lawsuit from the criminal saying you used 'excessive force' or some other bull-crap that shouldn't even apply. Dead men tell no tales.
