ULEV Question

OK, i dont understand this. ULEV crap. Because our car is ULEV, does that mean that it has to stay ULEV to pass emissions? I mean you hear people talking about not doing this and that because of ULEV standards but hell, what about these old beater trucks and stuff that don't have any trouble. Do we have to stay ULEV to pass emissions, and if so is that not the stupidest *ucking thing you've ever heard?

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure our cars don't have to stay ULEV to pass inspections. The ULEV status only comes into play when getting CARB certification. Any aftermarket product that doesn't maintain our ULEV status won't be certified by the CARB.

As far as inspections go - at least in Texas, I don't think it's legal for them to hold one model/type to a higher standard than another model/type from the same year. All cars manufactured in a certain year have a minimum set of standards they must pass, however.

There are set levels that have to be met at least in Cali. They are VERY high and are continually going to go up. There are states like MN that have no emissions. The emissions laws are state buy state. I'm not positive but no your car does not need to stay ULEV but it does need to stay within limits that go away quickly with aftermarket parts that are not CARB certified. Basically keep all your factory parts otherwise you will be spending a hell of a lot of money in four years when it comes time to smog your car. Basically all ULEV means Ultra Low Emmisions Vehicle. You have cars like the lude that are LEV cars that are still smogable.

if ur car is ulev... u must have it at ulev even with aftermarket or else itz illegal..
if ur car is lev.. u must have it at lev even with aftermarket or else itz illegal

if your car in made in the 70... say good bye to carb law.. cuz cali don't care with car that are made in the 70s.... too few car to car about the environment.... so if u want to pollute all you want... buy a car that is made before 1980!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

When I purchased my car in TX a year ago, on the price stickers, I noticed the Accord was LEV and 49-state legal, while the Civic was ULEV and 50-state legal.

yeah it all has to do with smogging the car, and its because cali has the toughfest smog regulations. IN a few years the ULEV will be like industry standard here in cali

Yep you are right. But I have heard in Minneapolis there are starting to crack down on emissions.

Captain Obvious, that is the second post I read by you today where you had no input whatsoever and you just pointed out the obvious. I LOVE IT.

Well lets just say those of us that are in the smog in LA could be sucking the tail pipe of the 7th gen civic and be getting cleaner air. Obviously there are other contaminants from the tail pipe that would kill you that aren't in the air BUT the air coming out of our tailpipe is cleaner.

This ULEV is complete B.S.......It pisses me off,....just one of the reasons why HKS hasn't made a turbo for the 7th gen,.......crap...it's all crap.
if our cars are ulev.....they have to stay ulev. which is B.S.
but,,honda wanted to sell cars,.....and also I believe they made them ulev while everyone else is lev so they could get a jump on everyone for some b.s.....urrr

For all you who say "to hell with ULEV" well, you guys are just a bunch of ignorant fVcks to don't give a damn about the environment. You take all you see around you for granted, but you don't give a damn about what the future generations will have to live through. If you can't deal with it, then why go buy a ULEV in the first place? Maybe it's cuz your parents bought it for you? Then that's your tough fvcking luck!

LEV is enough to save the environment......there is so much other crap going on in this world where I CAN say to hell w/ ULEV.......like all the vehicles made before the year 2000!!!!!.
If I put a turbo on my car and the goverment bit*hes, then f*ck them.
AND no one has helped me w/ any kind of money since I was 15.....and I still owe 14,000 on my car......
so go tell your mommy to hug a tree
