Civic's hp and the new Si
Civic's hp and the new Si
Well its no question that the new Si is slower then the old coupe Si. Why? Well i heard because it was more economical. But why is honda doing this crap? Why do they just have a SOHC 127hp engine for the ex, when everyone else has a damn DOHC. In my opinon they should at least make the Exs 140 hp.
cause there probably directing there market towards people that drive on daily basis for work or so on, as in saving gas.
not for the small population like us who care about the hp and the performance
they make a lot more profit of them then us

Another reason the new SI is slower, is because, believe it or not, it is also a few hundred pounds heavier.
Anyway, it's true that Honda is leaning more towards fuel economy...rather than the gas guzzlers.

Yup like 301 said, plus they are meeting the (2005 i think) rigid smog requirements that all new cars will have to adhere to in the not so distant future. Plus the new cars in order to do well in crash tests they gotta structure them a little differently.(ever noticed how newer cars kinda look the same in general?) its cause of this stuff mentioned above. Hey I got an Si and it might lose to a coupe 00' civic stock, but barely, so no complaints. 0-60 in 7.5 seconds aint to bad for my ride, latez
notice how all of Hondas new cars are LEV or higher (ULEV, SULEV etc) Honda could give a crap about how fast they are, they are about making reliable, gas efficient and non polluting motors. I'm sorry, but not everyone out there tunes cars and Honda would rather mass produce 50,000 cars that get 35-40mpg to ppl with familys that would buy them than the few ppl who tune cars.
The government asks manufacturers to make most of their cars under a certain requirement i.e. LEV & ULEV. The more cars they make that meet these requirement the more alotments they will have for SUVs that dont make it. Have you ever noticed while some of our cars arent making emissions with a simple exhaust and then you get passed by a Tahoe that smells like azz? Well welcome to the world of politics. Pretty stupid if you ask me, they should all have to meet a certain requirement and thats it. Too bad Im a honda owner and not the honda owner.
