So i got some problem with my eye called uveitis, which can make you go blind in the eye that is affected. They optamolagist gave me these steriod drops i put in my eyes to make it better but they don't seem to be workin yet. May be im just paranoid but it would really suck to loose my sight. i was wondering if anyone knows if its legal to drive with one eye? not that i think im gonna looose my sight but i was curious after sitting at home for a week only being able to see out of one eye if they let people drive like this. You'd really have to speak with your state's Department of Motor Vehicles about that. I think in New York you have to be able to see a minimum of 20/40 corrected for an unrestricted license.

Damn, that sucks. Hope the steriod drops fix the problem. I'm guessing they will give you limited driving privileges, kinda like with a permit. Since you're depth perception will be severely different, you'd wanna be totally careful driving. Good luck.

I know New Jersey is strict about their vision requirements for driving. When I went to get my NJ license after moving from NY, they failed me on the eye test. Granted, I wear glasses, but the prescrption is not strong at all, and my eye doctor actually told me I can drive in the **daylight** without them. NJ DMV didn't really care. I had to get an affidavit signed by my eye doctor allowing me to get an NJ license. It was a real pain in the neck, even more so because I can see just fine.

Hope it works out ok for you.

I heard that the minimum is 20/40 in ONE eye. I might be wrong, but I have heard of people driving with a bad eye. Depth perception is poor so you might get some restrictions like no at-night driving or something.

The owner of the company I work for has a glass eye and he still drives. I don't know if his license is restricted in any way or not though.
