is it illegal to drive with one eye?
So i got some problem with my eye called uveitis, which can make you go blind in the eye that is affected. They optamolagist gave me these steriod drops i put in my eyes to make it better but they don't seem to be workin yet. May be im just paranoid but it would really suck to loose my sight. i was wondering if anyone knows if its legal to drive with one eye? not that i think im gonna looose my sight but i was curious after sitting at home for a week only being able to see out of one eye if they let people drive like this. Rep Power: 0 You'd really have to speak with your state's Department of Motor Vehicles about that. I think in New York you have to be able to see a minimum of 20/40 corrected for an unrestricted license.

Rep Power: 0 Damn, that sucks. Hope the steriod drops fix the problem. I'm guessing they will give you limited driving privileges, kinda like with a permit. Since you're depth perception will be severely different, you'd wanna be totally careful driving. Good luck.

Rep Power: 0 I know New Jersey is strict about their vision requirements for driving. When I went to get my NJ license after moving from NY, they failed me on the eye test. Granted, I wear glasses, but the prescrption is not strong at all, and my eye doctor actually told me I can drive in the **daylight** without them. NJ DMV didn't really care. I had to get an affidavit signed by my eye doctor allowing me to get an NJ license. It was a real pain in the neck, even more so because I can see just fine.

I heard that the minimum is 20/40 in ONE eye. I might be wrong, but I have heard of people driving with a bad eye. Depth perception is poor so you might get some restrictions like no at-night driving or something.
