What Was your 1st Civic?
What Was your 1st Civic?
My wife and my first new car was a yellow 1976 Civic CVCC 5 speed. They only came in orange or yellow. Wow it was miles better than all the any other "small" car in 76! We put 100,000 miles on it and traded it for a 1986 Honda Prelude. We put 250,000 on the Prelude. My wife icurrently are driving a 2003 Accord @ 103,000 miles and I am driving a 2005 Civic SI @ 92,000 miles. Never too "old" to drive fun car!
My favorite TV shows are JDM. My Honda isn't...

My first car is my 05 EX SE.
Great little car.
Unfortunately i don't think my next car will be a Civic, but maybe I'll have one on the side later down the road when I need a very reliable backup vehicle.

1980 honda-civic (hatchback) … bought her in 1984 … owned her for several years … had three outstanding issues :
my current car … 2002 honda-civic (350k+ miles) … slilght tapping sound … refuse to replace the head-springs. still on the original clutch (5sp/hydraulic) … she is due her third timing-belt replacement at age 375k … average 80k per set of tires … gets 40mpg if fueling at entrance to highway.
one note to others … never drive in deep water (8+") … manages to seep into the gaskets and bushings … eventually destroying all.
2013 honda-civic for me ? nah … too much BS inside today's new cars … would take a PhD-tech to configure the crap nowadays. will buy me a gently-loved camel … one with the second hump.
- cv-boots tore frequently … in spite of new shocks installed.
- butterfly-valve on carburetor had habit of sticking … when temps dipped below 10ºf
- gas-cap allowed oil to flow out … when going 100mph … ending up with metal-shrapnel in oil-pan.

My first was an '81 manual 4 door in Red. Loved the car and still talk about it and think it was the best ever. I got 44 mpg on highway, drove it 60k miles with never a problem with exception of clock being replaced under warranty. Yes, they had a clock in them back then. I sold the car for just about what I paid for it with roughly 60,000 miles on it. Gee, I miss that car.

My 1st Civic was a 1978 2 door. Paid $275 for it, drove it for the summer of 1988, sold it for $500ish and bought a 1980 1300cc Civic 4 speed. The 80 was as stripped down as they come---12" wheels etc. I loved that car.
