Rims are peeling, please HELP!!!!
hey guys, ok...so i've had my rims for less than a year...and a few months ago i noticed that the clear coat on the chrome lip (they're power coated white) started to peel on 2 of the rims. i went to the shop i bought them at and the guy there told me that I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO USE SOAP ON MY RIMS!!!! what a joke! so i'm like, yeah right....but he won't do anything about it...they're made by 5 ZIGEN and i don't know how to get him to give me a new set. please if this has happened to anyone...let me know what you did to deal with it...thanx in advance!!

You could always try and contact 5zigen.
Now you got me worried, 'cause I just got some 5zigen Fighters. Stupid question: What are we supossed to clean our wheels with?

Yea I read in one post that clear coat will strip if you clean your wheels with the wrong stuff I use only Megiuar's Gold Class or Eagle One A2Z. Check the detailing forum for more info. That sux about your rims though dude

You know, I've always been a little errie about some of these ricey rim companies............
They are like people who make Altezza lights & single DIN cd player kits........... crummy quality.
I mean, what do you think 5Zigen knows about making rims? They do moslty exhaust n stuff, far as my knowledge goes... same with Tenzo R.. they make little accessories....... it's like buying a "Tommy Hilfiger" watch. Made by some other company, with a label stuck on it... if you want to buy a good watch, you would go with "Seiko" or "Tag Heuer" or even "Timex"..... at least you know they'll last.
I think it's best to get rims from companies that really specialize in rims only, like BBS, Konig, Volk, RacingHart, Enkei, etc.... they have been making them for a long time, and some even make rims for auto manufactor's OEM equipment. And nobody with OEM wheels have any problems with clear coats melting w/SOAP... geez...
