they gave me a Focus...
Some of you may have heard but my 02 got rear ended last saturday. I took here to the body shop today
so they can do their thing. Afterwards Enterprise rent a car picked me up and took me back to their office
and all they had left was a P.O.S. silver Ford Focus sedan The car sucks and I feel like a total sell out. Luckily
they are gonna get me something else tommorow. I hate everything about it, and it looks and feels like sh-it inside and out. Just thought I'd share. Peace

Do you actualy care what kind of car you got? Chances are, your not paying for the rental, if someone elses rear ended you. Its just a rental car, they dont rent out Porsches and S2000's bud.

You got a rental for a few days. That means you can drive it like you stole it. Have some fun and give it some hell. At least you get to spend some time in the competition's offering. Your opinion will be valid since you have some experience with the car. Tear it up!

I have to Mormon friends who are on a mission in the area. They got assigned a focus. I thought it was going to make them renounce their savior for a minute the way they felt about that GODFORSAKEN vehicle.

unless your willing to pay out the *** for it, your going to get stuck with a crappy car. That isnt to say ALL foci are that crappy, but as you know its a rental and rental places buy the cheapest most striped down model available. So you can turn that car in, but unless you willing to pay, as i said, your just going to end up with a striped down sunfire, aspire, corola or somehting else equally as crappy. deal with it.

well when the dealer was doing warrenty work on my car i got an auto teg LS with power everything, sunroof and CD changer. Not a bad car to drive even if it was slow as hell. This however, was because the dealer was fixing a factory problem a few months after i bought my car brand new. If it had been a crash and some body shop, with my insurance paying for the rental, its ford aspire time. get it?

Time to punish that Ford for all its worth!
<< the focus' handle a lot better than our civics, but everything else about them sucks. >>
Except for the interior space, the layout (dashboard, controls, guages, etc) , the power, the wheels (15" or 16" stock depending on model), the utility (since the Focus is available as a 3 or 5 door hatch or wagon as well as a sedan) and oh yeah, the price.
yes, i used to have a focus too so i know, but overall quality is cheap, power is not that great, and my civic gets better gas mileage, and resale on those focus' is terrible. i had mine for one year and the value depriciated from 16,000 brand new to 9,000 with 25,000 miles on it.

When I was in my accident with my 5th gen civic I had a 2001 Neon but I had to give it back because it kept stalling out, Then I had a 2001 Kia Sephia...The car had no brakes, I had to pull up the Parking brake to stop...Traded that in and made a big stink about the POS cars they were giving me and I got a 2001 Grey Hyundai V6 Sonata. I beat the living sh$t out of that car....Car was real quick...I launched over a railroad crossing doing 60 miles an hour....could of sworn I was airborn for at least 3 seconds...

I agree gas mileage is one of the weak points of the Focus, the problem is the outdated Zetec engine. In 2004 we will be getting a new all aluminum Duratec HE engine that should net us better mileage and more power to boot.
Resale value sucks because the new ones are so cheap. Still $9k seems like you got shafted, was that your Trade in value at the Honda dealer? In general the Focus holds it's valuereally well (for a Ford anyways). The analogy I like to use is if we both have $17k, I take mine, pay $15k for a loaded ZX3 and put $2k in a shoebox (never mind an intrest bearing bank acount) you take all $17k and get an EX that is more or less equipped the same. We both wait 3 years, sell our cars, I add my $2k and we'll see who has more.
ratich...you are a moron...that is a nice little story you got there...but do you really want to do that...in three years it will be worth 5k the air will prolly not work and it will still be a focus...our honda's resale will own that focus even with your $2000 put away oh and you are always mentioning the 15 or 16 inch rims...
...that doesnt make the focus nice...

calm down there guy........that's your opinion, but his is different. From my personal experience with fords that kind of $hit won't happen until the car is 4yrs old.(damned mustang)
actually my civic cost 18,650 and that was for a loaded lx auto, i got raped on it because the mark up around here (seattle/everett) is crazy. but i am very pleased with it so far, and as for the focus i bought that in 2000 when it first came out. i took it to the dealership 12 times because of brake issues, ie-the rear drums squeked badly and didnt work very well when they got hot, they replaced them many times, but the problem was never fixed, i tried to claim the lemon law, but i was over the 24 thousand mile mark, which is the cutoff, so the dealership was screwing me around basically.

Really?? I had no idea, thanks for pointing that out for me.

I just did a quick search for 2000 Focuses and the average asking price is $10k - $12k Not bad for cars that cost $13K - $15k brand new.
Umm I don't think I mention wheels that often at all, but it is true that with a Civic you get 14" steel wheels stock (except for the HX and Si) while all Focus models except the ultra cheap LX sedan get at least 15" alloys and most get 16" alloys (that's 1" bigger than even the Si)
The wheels don't make the Focus nice, but the entire package is definitely superior to the Civic. The only areas the Civic has any clear advantage:
Long Term Reliability (unproven but I'll give it to you)
Short term resale value
Gas Mileage
Fewer (but not none) recalls
Lets see where the Focus has a clear advantage:
Lower Cost (both to buy and insure)
Better Handling
Better Aftermarket
More interior room (both for passsengers and cargo)
More bodystyle choices
More power
Everything else is subjective,. in my opinion the Focus has MUCH better quality than the Civic, one of the main things I didn't like about the Civic is the dashboard and interior trim pieces seemed like they were contraced out to Fisher Price. In my opinion the Focus looks better too. In my opinion it's an advantage that there aren't as many ZX3s on the road as Civics by a 3 to 1 margin (I don't want to look like everyone else) Of course there are people on this board who will disagree with me on all of these points. Anything that's an opinion doesn't mean jack. Lets stick to facts (that we can back up)
