Please let this be one of you!

An interesting (and DAMN funny) thing happened to me last night at about 9 PM. Thought Id share, with the hope that this was one of you.
Anyway, after some great BBQ carne asada ("grilled meat" for you white ppl), I decided to go on a beer run since we were running dry. I Hop on the freeway and start off the the greatest liquor store in the world, Beverages & More ( www.bevmo.com ). Im moving along at about 70MPH when I see some "cool blue" headlights a way back in the distance, that happens to be approaching rather quickly. I figured since I was only doing 70 in the fast lane, I should move over and let the guy pass. So I did, and didnt pay too much attention to the car after that until the guy got up next to me. Not really looking, I hear the car first. Sounded like a coffee can full of pissed off bees were nesting in my trunk. I check my mirror only to see the car with the same ubiquitous ricer blue headlights sitting (or trying to as the case may be) in my blind spot. The guy had matched my speed and I guess was trying to either get me to race, or to scare me with his Wu-Tang Clan killer bee impression by sitting up high in the RPM at way too low a gear.
Whatever.
The sounds then gets even louder, and they car passes me up only to slow back down again and pace right next to me. At that point I couldnt help but laugh. It turned out that those wana-be HIDs belonged to a 2K1+ civic EX SEDAN. Oh but thats not the good part. I guess I should have been intimidated though because this car had some slick high performance modifications! The thing had a body kit (at least it was painted and not primered), altezza lights (watch out now!), painted rear drum brakes (mad stopping power yo!), a DUAL ( ) "dunk" style exhaust (wu-tang killa beez on da swarm!), and the mounting brackets for a rear ricer wing (but NO actual wing... maybe trying to go for that retro "jet fighter tail" look? ).

Needless to say, I couldnt pass the opportunity up. As soon as the guy punched it again, I dropped it into 3rd and let wail. I wish the guy hadn’t had such dark tint, because Id have liked to get a look at his face as I immediately put length on the fool. By 80 I was already a good 2 cars in front of him and I hadnt even had to shift out of 3rd yet. I shift into 4th move in front of the guy, in his lane (still pulling away, now nearing the bus length stage, rather then measuring in car lengths). I keep on it till I hit about 95, Then I proceeded to slow back down, only to see the guy mover over a lane and try to pull a fly-by. I let the guy get even with me again before I hit my brakes, pulled behind the guy, moved over yet again and, again, put mad length on the fool. If your having trouble picturing those events in you head, I literally drove a circle around the guy. Just thought Id share, cause I couldnt stop laughing about it last night. I hope you enjoyed it too.

Now whoever owns that car, FESS UP!

I didn't think of B16 as the engine, but now you mention it I see, I was thinking B as for his last name or something and 16 for whatever. I was under the impression that he was a 7th gen owner cause of forum.

JS Whaler, I'm still curious as to why doing 80 in 3rd is bye bye transmission? I do have a 7th gen, and I'm sure i do around 80 in third, when i want to go fast at least. I've hit around 130kph in 3rd, whatever that is.

130 kph = 80.78 mph I have no idea why this would hurt the transmission?? Over-revving hurts engine components.
Am I missing something here?

i'm sure it has to hurt something

i mean you cant do more than 45 on first gear so you change to 2nd gear

lets say you never change gear on first the fastest you can probably go is PROBABLY 50 or less but

the point here is i think it would mess something in your transmission if you dont change

but 80mph on third gear is possible, but i think you would have to max every gear out......meaning changing

gear as soon as the gear cant go no more.....anyone can correct me if i'm wrong

damn to what rpm you shift?
at 80mph, i'm not even at 7000rpm (3rd gear), and when i'm racing I always to up to that.
I don't think it do much damage...

sorry kackass let me be more specific. I saw his rear drums through the 17+" aftermarket rims that he had on the car. As for it being at night, i dont know about you, but my headlights dont just work directly infront of the car. Now shut up.

I don't get it, why are you on this website. I admit your stories are funny, and you post cool pics. But it seems like all you do is rip on the 7th gen. So what's the point. This site is for 7th gen enthusiasts, not haters. At least that is what I think.

So as Grey asked you before, what is your purpose of being here?

to talk about cars of course. Its funny, because 99% of my posts dont have ANYTHING to do with 7th gen civics, but as soon as 1 comes allong, i get the same dumbass questions asked over and over.... "what do you have done to your 7th gen to make it go that fast?" me: I dont have a 7th gen "then why are you on this site?"

Who cares? Because I want to be. Thats why. People like my pics, as well as al the videos i post. Im contantly correcting inaccurate automotive information as well as answering technical questions via PM. But do people care? No. "Oh your bashing on 7th gens"

Yea? how did I do that this time? Did i say "all 7th gens suck ***" ? Did i bash in any way the car make and or model it self? Again, no. Think about that for a second. It also occured to me that there should be a FAQ section for newbies so they will stop asking those same 2 questions over and over. As for now, deal with it because i dont care.

I'm a 7th gen owner now that my 6th gen got stolen, but damn I liked the 6th gen. You could get a lot more out of the 6th gen per gear than with the 7th gen's.

In my '99 DX I could do 30 in 1st, 60 in 2nd, 85 in 3rd, 105 in 4th and computer-limited 120 in 5th.

I haven't tested all the gears in my 2k2 out yet, but I know I get 20mph in 1st, and ~45 in 2nd. I haven't maxed out 5th gear yet but it seems to have trouble getting over 110. I would have expected more out of an EX.

All in all I love my 2k2, but for different reasons than the 6th gen. I think the 6th gen was more sporty and performed better in a sport setting. Better gear ratios, better suspension, responds MUCH better to bolt-ons.

My 2k2 has a nicer interior and is a comfortable and quiet ride (although I'm already developing dash rattles and I haven't even hit 2000 miles yet! ).

The 2k2 is still a fun car, but when I really want to thrash and tear I miss my '99.

Its a civic. Thats somethig your going to have to deal with. This goes for pretty much ANY car you buy for under 18K new.
