Frustrated With Aftermarket

Ya, so I'm reading the new issue of import tuner and they're talking about all these new turbo's and other aftermarket performance parts, but they're all for the RSX and WRX, what the heck???? I know that our car is hard to deal w/ being ULEV, but can't they get around that? I want some turbos and superchargers to choose from. Geez this is an 01' car and the parts are coming out for 02's -sorry just needed to vent...

u know why!? we own CIVIC's! they are SLOW, they will always be SLOW! if you want something fast, BUY something FAST(er)

they make parts for the wrx and rs-x because they are quick to begin w/ and are WORTH modifiying.....a car w/ 127hp is NOT worth the hassel to most companies to even bother with...

peace

Sadly I have to agree with mwwhonda. Our cars were built as an economy car, thats probably why turbos haven't been developed for our cars yet. But I think eventually one will come out. Until then, I'd try going custom. Just my tax free 2¢

Thats the exact same answer that I was going to say. Focus, Neon, Saturn, GTi, and any other 4-cylinder cars have nice stuff, why not us? There's more Civic's then anything else.

Focus=DOHC 2.0L
Neon=DOHC 2.0L
Saturn=DOHC 1.9L(I think)
GTi=DOHC Turbo 1.8L

Believe me, the parts will come, because it's a civic, but there is a reason those cars are getting attention.

face it the K series puts out way more power than the D block does, just like the B block got way more attention with the older blocks. Its nothing new people.

i dont mean to sound too bitter here but....
be thankful for what you do have. my car, a 1990 SHO has virtually NO aftermarket. for 10 years ford made a unique car that could beat every 4 door car on the market that was under $30,000. surprisingly enough, as soon as the SHO was produced, ford turned their back any kind of aftermarket for the SHO. after ford turned their back, nearly every other aftermarket supplier did as well. right now, there are only 2, yes count them 2, aftermarket companies that supply parts unique to the SHO. and they were both started by SHO owners because of the nonexistant aftermarket.
it sucks that a supercharger/turbo hasnt been developed for your 2001 cars. just put it in perspective, i havent had one made for mine and its been 12 years!!!
everything will work out guys, an aftermarket company will figure out a way and youll all be happy!

cheers,

matt fd

Civic's are KING of aftermarket parts. I know it is slow but there are so many Civic owners out there wanting parts, so companies are BOUND to come out with parts, sit back, save money, and BOOM, TURBOS!!!

yea, they'll come eventually, the RSX and WRX are gettin the attention and priority because they are SPORTS CARS, and people who have em are more likely to mod! yeS! i know there are 10x more 7gencivics on the road than rsxs, so there'll be probably JUST as much of us who want to mod! but the companies want to concentrate on the faster cars first, because those also get them better publicitiy... in magazine and such. guess what? COMPTECH just made a supercharger for the accord.. and its been what FOUR years? and Greddy already has a turbo for the RSX! thers a difference there, but dont worry guys it wont be too long. a properly installed nitrous system will not fawk up your engine if you know how to use and when to use it

but you would have to understand a lot about nitrous before you get into it

other than that nitrous is the best bet right now for speedwise and buck for buck

Grey has a spectacular aura aboutGrey has a spectacular aura about
All you guys who have this argument of not modifying our cars since they're slow suck!

For example, a couple of years ago I bought a dual Celeron motherboard and two 366Mhz Celeron CPU's. First off, the Celeron was not built to work in dual mode, it was also rather slow with a 66Mhz internal clock speed. Why did I buy this setup? Because I could make them work in parrallel and I also overclocked them to 550Mhz with a 100Mhz internal clock speed. I paid $800 and I had a system that was faster than other ones costing over $1200.

Now, I bought my 2001 Civic LX for $13,695 and with a little work I should be able to get a decent amount of horsepower out of it. I don't think I'll ever spend more than I would for an RSX and I should attain similiar horsepower numbers with ease. Well, maybe not for the Type-S. Anyway, that's my point.

As for the aftermarket sucking for our cars it's because there isn't enough tuners out there that are interested in the 7th gen civic from the standpoint of performance. Maybe when there's going to be more of us 7th gen civics this will change. Maybe this will change if and when Honda decides to put the K series blocks into the 7th gen models? Who knows? Who cares! I'm going custom since kits cost way too much for me and my goal of having something better for less.
