NOTHING will prevent a theft...that said, the built-in immobilizer system+oem alarm should be a good deterrent. If u want more peace of mind, why not get Lo-Jack installed?

Check it: LoJack site

DON'T GET THE OEM ALARM. Don't settle for that bull$hit.

The only known way for someone to break into your car is to break the window. The OEM alarm does NOT have window sensors so what's the friggin point of getting it? It's pointless and has poor sensors. Someone on these forums had their car broken into and had the OEM alarm. The alarm did NOT go off as the window was broken.

Get an aftermarket alarm...

I love the alarm on my bro's GS-R. It's so sensetive you can't even kick the tires... you can't even put the wiper blade down on the windshield... first the alarm will make a warning sound... and within a certain amount of time, if the car is disturbed again, it'll go off. Get something like that.

Yea, I had the OEM alarm and do not reccomend it. I had my car broken into twice and it did not go off because they did not open the door. They just broke the glass and yanked out my stereo. The OEM alarm does not come with sensors. The only way it goes off is if someone opens the doors, trunk, or hood. GET AN AFTERMARKET ALARM!!!

I had a Viper 550ESP put in my car the week I got it... I couldn't be happier. In addition to having sensors all over the car, it added a feature where my doors lock as soon as I put it in gear, and they unlock automatically when I turn the car off. My car spends most of its time in the school parking lot that's a little over a mile from where I actually live, and auto theft is notoriously high out of that lot... haven't had a problem yet.

Yup, I agree. So the goal is to get the best type of security for your car.

And the OEM alarm does have sensors... mine went off:

1. When I dropped my hood down to close it...
2. When this big old car rolled back into the front bumper of mine.

POS sensors that only go off if your car has to endure some type of forceful pain. The alarm will either go off accidentally, or it'll go off at the cost of your car being damaged in a place where there's no sign of a real theft.
