dont see how it would...that extra 20 lbs of torque is contradicted by the extra 200+ lbs its carrying...but where as his car was stock (looked like it) my car isnt so...
Go to ClubSi if you want to jump on the wagon. Those are guys flame too much, especially the new Si. I mean come on they're both econoboxes, who cares if you get to the next stop light a little faster.
Its not that the new Si is weak, its just everyone was expecting so much more.. The last Si motor made 100.3hp/L, and the'02 Si makes just 80.1hp/L. I'm pretty let down.. You would think they would have that 2 Liter up to at least 180Hp..I'll just wait for the Type R, if it ever comes......
THe new Si is bad a** I have not had a chance to race a 00 Si, but since I lowered it, I get alot of looks from people it looks tite! My guess is that I will beat a 00 si on take off (since it pulls away from lights quickly and easily) and the 00 si would catch up later when vtec kicked in.
A note to people thinking it should be faster: the 92 si was actually slower than the 91' si stock. I think some people are not happy cause it looks better than many other new model imports (ie lancer, eclipse, focus) but they dont have one =P

Go Neo I would have done the same thing the new SI's are just still have yet to see one on the road I went to the dealer here 2 weeks after the first SI came in and its still on the lot
That mustard yellow is bad news I wouldn't be caught dead in that color and in the new SI
Nick

Maybe you'll see him again... at a light... head to head... it doesn't matter if your car is modded, show him what that B engine is capable of doing! (Considering we don't know what that new K block is capable of doing yet... so just kill'em...)

Well i looked on Club Si. Not too many ppl are bickering over it...at least the 2k2 Si owners on there admit that its slower (one dude said how its best 0-60 was 8.0 and when he ran it at a track his lowest time was a 16.2), but they "Didn't buy it for speed". Hatchcivic, a lot of ppl including new Si owners have said the 92-95 Si runs faster than the 2k2 (big factor-weight!)... no doubt they have potential once there beefed up..but stock you're getting nowhere.
Did you see the guy (in ClubSi) talking about the INJEN CAI for the 2k2 Si? I'm waiting to see the Dyno chart, but he claims it provides 8hp and 20 lb/ft of torque at 4500rpm. Oh man I can't wait to mod the k20.
The engine's totally detuned. I'm positive it'll provide a lot of kick per mod.

Haven't had the opportunity yet man. Very sorry!!! I'm dying to show the damn thing off though! lol
Just haven't had a convenient chance to hook up with my friends digicam. The second I take pics though I'll come straight here!!!! Promise!!!!

a always glad to find a thread bout this
lets a year or 2 and see what happens in the aftermarket support. unlike us the vtec-i has alot of potential in the aftermarket department. much more than the older vtec engines. look at the RsX engines. just throwing a couple of mod's the HP gainage is high. so i dont think u should really be bashing a car thats got lots of potential.

Car w/lots of potential = Unefficient Car.
S2000 is a highly respected car, and it's a biatch to extract HP from. Same with NSX, etc etc...
As far as the new iVTEC Si? In my opinion, it is the biggest garbage Honda has yet to produce. If aftermarket teams have an easy time extracting horsepower, that means the stock parts are just pure crap.
The 99 Si's had a unique motor, the 160HP DOHC 1.6L VTEC..... not the base Integra's 140HP 1.8L. The new Si has the base RSX motor--not a bad engine, but neither is the Integra's 140HP. It's just that they could've done MORE here. Sounds like typical lazy parts bin sharing way to go. And it's not like the new Civic Si is CHEAP. You can get higher performance cars at the same price, including Nissan Sentra SE-R, Toyota Matrix XRS, Ford Focus SVT and VW GTi 1.8T.
And yeah, those cars pretty much SPANk the Si, in every aspect, including acceleration, braking AND handling.
Keep in mind, the '99 Si was ground breaking, as it was the only car in the class to be "high performance" (besides the over-rated 150HP 1.8Ts at the time from VW, if you can even count that).
By the time you soup up the Si enough to compete with those cars mentioned above, you could've bought a RSX Type-S, and have more fun. With your warrenty completely intact.
A good thing, when you just plunked big $$$'s for a new car.

Just because you raced someone, doesn't mean your car is FASTER.
Driver counts, when it's manual transmission.
Anyway, the new Nissan Sentra SpecV was clocked at 0-60mph at anywhere from 7.2 to 7.5 seconds.
I don't think your Civic EX could do that. The 160HP Si was clocked behind the SE-R, at something like 7.8 seconds.
Civics are slower than even Corollas.. blah. It's no high performance machine out of the box.
I give you props for taking on yoru buddy's SE-R, which probably means you're a good driver. And your buddy has no clue (just thinks he can drive).
