Question Question about 2006 Honda Civic LX

Hello!! This is my first time ever using a forum like this, but I figured who better to ask than people who know cars!!

Last week I was driving my 06 Honda Civic LX and swerved into the other lane to miss hitting a squirrel and saw another car zooming my way. I overcorrected and ended up hitting the curb with my car. The right front tire is intact but the stock rim (at least I think that's what it's called--the metal thing that holds the tire) is destroyed. Where can I purchase another stock rim? I only need one and need advice on how to go about doing this! Please, any information would be greatly appreciated.

1. Do I need to know the size of the rim, or can I just buy a "stock 06 Civic rim"?
2. Is it advisable to buy a new one or is a used one acceptable?
3. Do I need to purchase any other things to go with it?
4. Where do I purchase something like this?
5. What do I do with the old rim that I can't use anymore?

Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

First and FOREMOST: DONT SWERVE FOR EFFING ANIMALS!!! I totalled my 07' civic coupe doin that for a DEER...squirrel woulda been toast; wouldnt have blinked.
1. A quick goggle search will tell you all you need to know, most likely 16x7.
2. Used is fine, just make sure it aint bent.
3. a new tire
4. ebay, craigslist, ect, endless via the internet
5. if its bent, which i assume it is, make it into a fire pit!

Re: Question about 2006 Honda Civic LX

BobDobolina--that's pretty much the consensus of everyone who knows about last week's mishap, haha. I guess from now on the squirrels will be toast if they get in my way but I don't know if I could run over a kitty. That's a bummer about your Civic...what did you get to replace it? When I was changing the tire, the tire seemed to be intact...I couldn't find any noticeable damage to the tire. I've been looking online for a stock rim and I am overwhelmed with the options. I just want a stock rim!!! Thank you for the information...here are some more questions, if you would be so kind.

What does remanufactured mean? Is it like a refurbished computer? What does OEM mean? What is a center cap and do I need to buy one of those too? What is TPMS?
What about aftermarket? What does that even mean? Can I use the same lug nuts that were on the damaged one? Is there anywhere on the rim to determine the exact size I need? (I ask that because one website said the rim would fit 15x6 to 17x7.5). Does it have to specifically be a "stock 2006 Civic LX rim" or can it just meet those dimensions for it to work?

Thanks a million.........

Poor kitty! LOL
Got an 05' to replace my 07'. WAY more kewl **** out there for it and WAY cheaper to fix. But i miss it...
The original tire should be replaced, the steel belting inside may have been damaged. its a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Stock or 'steelies' as there called around here are a dime a dozen and you should be able to find them cheap and from multiple sources.

Remanufactured means refinished, repaired or otherwise up to spec but not new. Not like a refurb comp, cause you could have all types of **** go wrong with a refurb comp...

OEM means 'original equipment manufactured' aka expensive LOL

The lug nuts should be fine for re-use.

Aftermarket means all parts made to replace or upgrade OEM.

If you have stock steelies, center caps are not needed. They hide the large nut in the middle that holds the rim to the hub.

TPMS means 'tire pressure monitoring system' aka expensive

and the wheel/tire size...many combos available. check the other tires still on your car (lol) and simply match them.

hope that helps and dont be a stranger to the forum once you got what ya need!!
