engine swap

hey whats up guys? I've been on this forum for a while now but have only made a couple comments here and there, but anyways I'm opening up a shop up here in so. maine and I have a 2k2 civic.. I want to swap the motor out, but can't afford $8k for a new 2.0 rsx motor.. my business partner is going to japan in july so I can get a used type r motor from over there, but I'm not sure how complicated its gonna be to install the damn thing.. gimmie your guys' suggestions on what motor to go with or if I should just go turbo, and if anyone knows how much the new si motor is let me know.. my shop doesnt install, and any of the shops that do up here are amateurs so I'll probably have to send it to florida, or cali for the install.. I know for a guy who's gonna be running a performance shop I should know more about my car, and what will fit, but I really havent had a whole lot of time to sit down and read up on the dimensions and everything.. but let me know what you guys think, and if anyone lives up near maine we're gonna be opening june 1st, and get a hold of me and I'll give you directions..

I'll figure it out and put a B18C in there or something.. nice talkin to ya.. later

the only way a b series is going to fit is if you have some $$$ and you're willing to lengthen the front end...

well to tell you the truth within 20 minutes after I posted that I decided to go a different route with it, and just have to Stage 3 modifications done by KMS, and have the crank, flywheel, and pistons lightened and balanced along with a big bore throtte body and some other goodies that I don't feel like listing right now.. has anyone done any of this to their car, and has anyone delt with KMS in Georgia?

rush, man. i think its cool that youre opening a shop and are looking for a new motor. but the B18C will not fit in our engine bay. im not trying to flame you or anything, but it just aint possible. the B series motor is a great motor and especially if its a JDM. id say your best bet is to find a K20A 2 or 3 depending one how much money you want to spend and how much power youre looking for, but look for them on ebay like HtowncivicEX did. if i remember correctly he paid around $4k for the whole deal but i may be a bit off, i just dont remember it costing anywhere near $8,000. anyway, let us know whats going on and what you decide.

hey, rushcivic. i resent the fact that you call the speedshops around here amatures. I know brent from radiocity in maine wouldnt like that fact. i i know for SURE that my boss and I dont, and were in Dover. we've done lots of engine swaps and we have LOTs of experence in the field.< more than you, by the sound of your post> The only way for a shop to survive around new england is to be friends with the other ones in the area. YOu dont make a good inpression by hateing and calling us amatures. just throwing money at a shop dosnt allow it to survive. quit hateing, and learn some sh.t before you start sh.t

as far as the $8k for the K20A that was brand new price, and boost I know brent, and am friends with everyone in the speedshop industry here in maine, and you were at my house last weekend, and I'm not calling you guys amateurs, and brent doesn't do motor swaps, they don't install anything. I was saying as far as an engine swap goes the shops up here are amateurs.. I have no beef with any of the shops here nor there, as far as I'm concered just as long as more people upgrade their cars, and bring them out to misr I don't really care where they get the parts from.. by the way boost if you're still confused as to who this I have the lowered black 2k2, and I raced in saco, and not to mention you're at my house like every weekend with chris and my sister!!

if you're opening up a shop w/o any import knowledge aren't you opening an "amateur shop?"

Have you thought about trying the K24(2002 CRV)? It has plenty of torque and, with some head work you could easily give it over 200 hp. For that mater, does anyone think it would fit?

isn't the k24 just a stroked k20? that'd explain the higher torque

have you ever tried to import things such as engine components from Japan? good luck! you have to pay tariffs, go through customs and deal with a whole lot of other **** going that way and a whole hell of a lot of money.

<< my shop doesnt install, and any of the shops that do up here are amateurs so I'll probably have to send it to florida, or cali for the install.. >>

once again you are looking at a whole hell of a lot of money getting a car from maine to cali is gonna run you a lot of money like a couple g's or a lot of miles on your car. The only engine you will get in your engine bay without a lot of body work are the 2001+ intregra, possibly the 2002+ CRV, and the 2002+ SI.Or I should say all the engines from Honda that will fit.

it is possible to drop a 1999 or 2000 integra gsr motor in to our cars.....we dont need to lengthen the front end or anyting....all it needs is a little fabrication for some certin parts like the motor mounts etc and a lil money and it will fit........im planning on doing this cause ive had 2 shops in milwaukee tell me it possible and also show me........it will cost money but thats life........

Be very care coming over to rushcivics krib BOOST he stated "are you coming saturday, its supposed to be nuts" Do Not I say Do Not eat or drink anythin from his krib... coz it might taste like N!@$ ---hope ya'll don't take this personnal, lighten up you guys....

Anyway I did a lot of research on K20A engines lately, coz I'm also planning a K20A2 swap... K20A2 is the only engine that would fit snugged and tight to 7thgencivics, K20A3 will fit but you have to change the intake manifold to fit, and I don't know where to get an intake manifold that would fit... low hp and torque for almost the same price with K20A2's, think it twice bro!!!

K20A2 engine complete with everything you need for a swap, the lowest I researched was 5300 shipped, that's naganojapaneseengines.... Hope I helped a bit... And rushcivic heads up man, don't mind damn haters... 7thGenCivics All The Way!!!

it is only illegal if you are street racing and you get pulled over and started acting like a jerk to the cops...

Bring it to the track...
