Hi everyone!
I've been coming to this site for the past few months and finally decided to regsiter
Next month (hopefully) i'll be getting a 2002 Civic EX AT (red or silver, not sure yet) the price i've been quoted was $20,200 for an EX with out the side airbags. That seems a bit high! Is there anyone here from WA? if so how much did you pay for your car and what dealership did you go to? For everyone else with an EX, how much was your car?
Thanks!
Lidia

I dunno about prices (plus i live in canada so that prolly wouldn't help much).
BUT, i'd get RED over the Silver! Just my opinion tho.

I am in the same boat as you lidcivic, I have been checking this site out for a long time and just joined a few days ago. I got an EXcelent deal on my EX. I got it for $12,000 for mine through a dealership that a good friend of mine owned. He really hooked me up. Sticker when I bought mine was about $16,500 for MT and about another $800 for AT. No side airbags though. Go with silver, that is an awesome color.
I have a silver.. an see 100 a day.. I test drove the red an I was gonna get a red 94 vw corrado but the guy sold it out from under me.... anywaz... that is way to much money.. even if you were to go out of state an have to pay taxes when you crossed the line.. you should be able to get one for no more than 18,000 out the door with side airbags...
oy yeah bye the way .. welcome

Yeah, i figured $20,000+ is a bit on the high side. Is there anyone here from Washington state? I was hoping someone from WA would give me some tips as to what dealerships i should go to. I'm leaning toward red at the moment, i wanted silver but the red looks GREAT!
I like the new SI, too bad it doesnt come in automatic because if it did thats what i would get!

Go to Cars Direct.com and buy the car online for INVOICE cost...
BUY IT HERE
Best way I've found.
Also, I've heard that you can buy a car through Costco Wholesale for $100 over invoice.... pretty good deal eah?
Just call up a Costco store and ask an employee about it.

Sup man, alright, I bought my 2k2 EX for 17,300, BUT the TOTAL price after 5 years is roughly 20,000 for me, so I have a question for you, when you say your being charged 20,000. I would have to think that thats the price youll pay for the car after the 5 year loan intrest is added in.
Now Its early here, if this made no sence, maybe someone would clear it up
I need to wake up!!

the price you mentioned was how much the civic si was selling for! waay too high, i recommend you research abit online about the price, and show that to the dealer, they always want to make money, don't play the number game with them let them show you how much they paid for it, just get a price set you want to buy the car for walk in there and tell them that's the price you are willing to buy it, if they can't sell it to you, just leave, and maygo find a different dealer
Hey Lidia,
Welcome to this goofy forum where if you beat a supra you get called BS and if you beat a van people laugh at you.
Anyways since you don't have much buying car experience, this is what i suggest,
#1 ask people what they paid for their ex so you have an idea of what the price range SHOULD be.
#2 go to several dealers and say right away, this is what i'll offer.. if they refuse, you say, fine, think about it and call me
#3 Trust me, at least ONE of them WILL call you.
#4 BUY CARS AT THE END OF THE MONTH
( dealerships need to make a quota also and at the end of the month at 4:30PM, trust me.. they'll want to bargain.
#5 I live in Canada and my friend got his EX for 16,800$ and that's in Canadian currency...
Enjoy..

Thanks guys and gals for the welcome & the input
I'll deffinitely keep looking! The dealership i went to has a bad rep (i found this out AFTER i went to them to test drive the EX) for overpricing cars. A friend said they tried to sell him a USED Neon for $10,000!!!
I don't know about going to your get together this saturday because i don't have my car yet I would feel lame pulling up in my '95 Mazda (sadan) But i would be glad to go to any of your meets in the summer (i'll be getting my car at the end of next month). YAY i'm excited to get the car!
I've only seen a hand full of the new civic around (AND the only red one i saw was an Si at my school) so i'm happy to be getting a Honda that looks a bit different than all the previous models.
Can you believe that before i decided to get a Honda i was looking at VW Beetles?!
