Racing a dealer RSX w/ my LX cpe manual

Ok, my boss takes his CL type S in for a 15000 mile tuneup and oil chg. They gave him an RSX loaner car w/ the sequential shift. I went over and test drove the car b/c I've always liked the RSX's. This car was SLOW WTF! It only had 8000 mi on it so I know it wasn't ragged out. There was like no throttle response - like 1/2 second delay after punching the pedal. So, the next day after work we raced a few times and I won by a car length twice. Our cars hung 2gether once off the line. Does anyone know what the freak they do to the loaner cars 2 make em so slow?

Nothing, I've beat a RSX, and he had an exhaust.

lots of things to consider - weight, driver - and sportshift is essentially the same thing as auto.

How much do the RSX's weigh? (with 160 horses on the base model you'd think they'd be pretty quick)

and sportshift is essentially the same thing as autoText yep...that sportshift sucked **** when compared to a manual IMO

CL Type-S

A friend of mine had one.. until it got flooded, along with my uncle's benz, among the thousands of other cars that got flooded in Houston last year. *sigh* cruel, cruel nature.

Oh, about the Acura CL -TYPE S that's in the shop...it just had AEM Cai and Comptech headers installed. That biaaatch sounds bad *** (jealous jealous)! I just tightened the throttle cable on my civic - it waz ez. Not much room for adjustment though.

RSX + base model + "sport" shift = high 16s.

The baseline RSX ain't that fast... and since it was an auto, you got what it was made of.

I don't think there was really any difference. There are even some people who consider the RSX Type S too slow and it's got 40 more horses. I think the Type S is an alright car, but I wouldn't be surprised if the base model RSX was noticably slower... keep in mind... it's an auto! Your Civic has the weight advantage, too.

Yeah, I raced a BMW M5 Automatic and won...

Let's be serious here, shall we: 160 hp and 132 lb/ft. of torque are the numbers for the base RSX. Let's see, how much does a Civic LX have...115 hp and 110 lb/ft. Yeah, mmhmm... Even with an auto, the RSX does not weigh THAT much more than a Civic. I am not **** enough to go check the numbers right now, but I would ballpark the weight deficit to be around 200 pounds in the Civic's favor. As a whole, I would definitely say that the RSXs are faster than Civics. Now, as many of you have said, the driver IS very important...the first time I raced anyone was when I went up against my friend in a 1997 Prelude. I actually beat him, off the line, and through the race. It was only his 2nd week w/ the car, and so his stick shift skills weren't THAT polished, and he wasn't even shifting at high enough RPMs to feel the fury of an H22A w/ VTEC! Needless to say, it sure boosted my ego...until we raced again 3 weeks later and he blew me out of the water
