Just shaved emblems

So I didn't realize how much of a pain in the arss it was to get the civic and ex emblems off of my trunk. They came off fairly easily, but that glue was awful. I would heat it, peal it, wd40, then some bug and tar remover was applied, then some scratch remover stuff, finally it came off. Took me like an hour to do, but I guess it was all worth it now. Just needed to tell cause I was getting pissed.

I feel your pain. It took so long that I almost used a screw driver to get the glue off. Luckly I didn't.

I thought the EX was harder to remove than CIVIC. The glue peeled off easier on the civic emblem, don't know why . . . .

It was surprisingly easy to remove it off my car...considering the age, I thought it would be a huge struggle, but it came off quickly...the glue was tough, but in 20 minutes all was clean!

Mine was easy. I parked my car in the sun for a couple of hours. Then, came back, with a putty knife. Wedged the putty knife into the tape/glue/foamie stuff(not against the car!) Then yanked it right off. Then, I rubbed the bits of glue off with my hand. Looks good, no more than 5 min.

Seriously? I just heated it up with a blow dryer and all the glue almost came off when I pulled the emblems off. The little that was left just got a treatment of Goof-Off and I was home free.

Yeah in Phoenix I can see how it could come off so easy, its gets pretty warm down here you don't even need a hair dryer LOL you can even fry an egg on the pavement in the summer

So can someone please explain to me the reason people shave the emblems?? I know people do it, just never figured out why?! To give the car the 'clean' look perhaps??

i would say that shaving your emblems is ok if you're shaving them off an LX. But from an Si or EX....WHY?? I want people to know that I'm driving the top-of-the-line and what better way of saying it than with your emblems, but without the emblems, nobody will know it's an Si unless they look hard for a sunroof or something like that.

Yeah, thats a good point 2k1, I have the EX and I dunno never thought of taking the emblems off, I was thinking when I was living in a ruff place in Phoenix it might help out on lowering the theft if some moron thief didn't know what it was by not seeing the emblem. But then I was like well I have the standard EX rims still so that wouldn't work very well so I just left it on, plus with the painted doors, mirrors and sunroof it still would stand out.

Mine were a little pain in the **** as well, The glue took some work to get off but wd-40 worked pretty well. My problem was the outline of the emblems was very obvious. I took the emblems off a week after I bought the car. Took me a very, very, long time to buff the areas out to make them look smooth.

I have a ex and didn't think twice about taking it off. Most people don't know an ex from a fc or whatever. Plus, any vic owner will know w/o looking at the emblem, well most anyway. I think the car looks much better with just the honda emblem on the back.

I'm with Mbow on the recognition thing. Anyone who owns a Vic will know first off, that the Eternal Blue is only an EX model, then the EX has different stock "rims" and a sunroof automatically. I shaved my emblems the day I got the car. Replaced the Civic with a carbon fiber one that looks really nice..If I can find a good place to weld up the little holes from the H in the trunk, I'll totally shave off all emblems.

Mine were easy to take off.

And, because I shaved mine and put new wheels on it you might think I have a EX or even a LX until you look at the dash and see no friggin tach

The reason to shave the emblems off of an Si is because you don't want to go somewhere only to come back to your car having scratch marks in place of the Si logo. I dunno why you would take it off of an EX tho. Nobody wants to steal that logo.

I used some tooth floss and pulled the Civic and the LX right off. I got some alcohol and rubbed away the excess glue. Took me all but 5 min.

Mbow im surprised u had a hard time buffin yours so soon, i just removed mine and it has been a year. EX came right off, the Civic was alittle tougher but longest thing was heating it with the hair dryer haha. Came off fairly easily, what glue was left i hit it with STICKER SHOCK and let it set in for like 5 mins, glue came right off and i washed area and waxed/buffed and looks hella good.

Ill be putting eprodigys VII emblem on the car, prolly where the EX was cause i think it looks sweet but im prolly gonna paint it white cause im not having chrome on my car.

Yea, I was too. Maybe the car had been sitting on the dealer's lot for a while before I got it, I don't know.

Wow thats wierd I removed my civic and Lx emblems in like 5 mins. I didn't even have any residue left after I removed the emblems
I feel sorry for you, but I still bet you are still glad you took off those emblems. At least on my car it looks better
