auto maintenance

I'm working on a research project on a topic I know NOTHING about. (Car Maintenance -- specifically air filters)

I created this survey concerning simple car maintenance preferences. Since you all are far more
knowledgeable on the topic than I am... could you PLEASE take my survey??? It shouldn't take over 2 minutes.
http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/89868/a500l

What do you all think of the survey? Any other questions I should add?

I'd really appreciate ANY feedback.

THANKS!

Re: auto maintenance

I dont know, but are we supposed to change the air filter after every oil change? I mean I've changed it once at 25k, and 50k. Though I'm sure I could have waited until 50k.

Though that was a lot of oil questions.

Re: auto maintenance

technically air filter should be changed when its dirty. for an oem paper filter, every year or 10k miles is the longest i would wait. i clean my oiled foam cone filter every 6 months because it traps so much fine dust and gets filthy much faster, and its open-air instead of in a box. altho i wont lose much airflow by waiting a year with foam, if you use paper it gets clogged and blocks alot of flow, so you get less air coming in and less power. its just the nature of a paper filter.

Re: auto maintenance

Damn my paper air filter! Though it really doesnt look dirty at all, not to mention I dont think the dealership price of the air filter justifies every 10k or 6 months

Re: auto maintenance

usually every year is fine for something quality like aem dryflow. but if you drive alot in dusty conditions and you see it getting really bad, maybe every 6 months. hopefully you dont have a cotton gauze type filter, if you do just throw it away and get something better. if youre set on keeping it, just dont clean it. they filter better when dirty.

Re: auto maintenance

I have a question! Having a 03 DX my car wasn't equipped with AC, so when I removed the cabin filter holder it was empty. Do I need a filter if I dont have AC? or did I get swindled?

Re: auto maintenance

if you got your car used, you were probably swindled....

you most likely now need to go and get a small vaccuum and clean out in there as much you can, and get some filters to go in there...

all the air passing into the cabin goes through there... so if you have a heater / blower (so you can adjust the speed of the air coming out of your vents) then you would need filters.

Re: auto maintenance

x2, just get a pair from napa maybe $20. i doubt you have any serious damage, i know alot of guys run without them because they like the faster airflow. unless you have bad allergies and drive with windows closed all the time, they dont really serve any purpose. most older cars dont even have a place for them.

Re: auto maintenance

I will suggest you to get your car off the dents first n den get it repainted. For your car’s color selection I can suggest you a website from where I buy paints for my Mustang. It’s car paint I hope it’ll help u.
