Whats a good year civic to get for a first car?
What year civic should I get as a first car? I don't want to spend more then $8000 canadian. I was thinking of a 96. What are your thoughts?
Also is this a good deal?
96' civic lx, 4dr, 5speed, ABS, AC, Cruise control, 152 000KM for $7500 canadian?
Thanks.

A 2000Si for under 8k cadanian. , Anywhere from 95 to 98 and you should be good. If your looking for safety features like for a kid, make sure it has airbags and maybe even side airbags.

In that case.. like my friends girlfriend just did.. but a 93 hatch.with a bad engine.. get it fully rebuilt and repainted..and you'r still only spending 5-6k Canadian... She spent $1200 on the car.. got the engine rebuilt with some performance goodies..new 15" rims and tires. Little body work(small dents minor suface rust) and repainted it a pasty pink..lol..doesn't look too bad really lol..but a freshly rebuilt honda engine, Frsh paint job.. some minor maintenance.. new brake pads/drums/ discs... maybe a tie rod.. it'll be like new...and be very reliable..
Heres the deal...
I've owned both the 95 hatch and sedan...
There both legendary cars and shouldnt give you any probs
If you like go with a sedan its cheaper on insurance especially if its ur first car...
watch for things like timing belt and water pump...thats the first to go on older civics...
I personally like the 95 look better then the 96
ur call
the deal u quoted is alright...

Don't know where you're living, but here's a search from AutoTrader for all Honda Civic's for your price range of $7,500 through $8,500 in all of Ontario. You can further refine your search when you know you want 2-dr, 4-dr, or hatch. With respect to Dealer vs Private. If you buy private, then you'll avoid the GST (aside from paying the PST). Good luck.

Thanks for your help guys.
I'm looking for something 96,97.
I've got the 96 civic I posted in sight, but the seller (my mom
) doesn't seem to want to sell it. I offered her 7500 for it anyways and I'm waiting for her response. I know she took great care of the car so it would be a good buy in my opion if she decides to sell it.
Oh another quick questions, can I put 14" or 15" wheels on a 96 civic (stock tires are 13")? I was thinking of buying some 6th gen SI rims and putting them on.

insurance will kill 1st time drivers...plain and simple...first 2 cars were weak slow sedans (even though it was listed under my dad and i was the 2nd driver)
these help make it higher
your age ~16
your a male
two doors
no back seats
stock engine power and weight of the car
and some other factors, etc.
get a civic sedan (canadian version of USDM ex)...some comfort and some power...it's got 4 doors and lots of storage space (for travelling, college, girlfriends)...insurance won't break the bank and leave you better off

If that thing came with 13s, you can probably put 16s on it. 13s!!! EWW!!
I was actually considering spending about 8 grand for a used civic. But they hold their value so well that I couldn't find wahat I wanted for that price, so I decided to finance a new car. It will probably be cheaper in the long-run.
