I was informed that these cars used Toyota motors...guess they realized that Honda is the ****...i love how my friend hates import cars and loves the lotus I always pwn him by telling him "wait, what motor does it have??" it never gets old...but seriously, wtf i thought they were on toyota motors

yeah the lotus comes with a celica gts 1.8 engine tuned to about 190hp and about 220hp for the super charged version. The lotus did this to save money on meeting US emission standards.

Lot of lotus enthusauits like to drop a K-series in there because the K series is just a better 4 cyclinder engine then the celica one. You get more displacements and it responds to bolt ons better.

its definately a fun car, but not really a DD car.

I really wonder how it would do...CF is pretty f'in strong. I saw a CF splitter on a race car that can supposedly hold the weight of the car on it w/o cracking.

until youve been in one, youll never understand. I felt like i was gonna **** sideways after riding in one at the track. Ive never felt lateral g's like that before. the light weight is just reduculous. you and a buddy or 2 could lift one

not to mention theyre RWD. People have been slapping F22c and F20c in them as well. They work better than the K series motors IMO.

but motor is in the back as well.so if the do a f20/f22c swap they would have to get a conversion to get the k20a trans to work and thats a lot. better off with a k20a motor and some boost give it way more power and reliability than any celica.
