07 Lexus IS
I absolutely love this car. I really don't care that it's underpowered b/c I don't really use all that power anyways. I wanna go 4dr luxary, tired of coupes. And, I want a car where you don't have to mod it to look good. This car looks good without any mods.
Anyways, I know it's a sport luxury sedan however, if you were to get this car, would you get it in 6 speed rwd or or auto awd? -consider that you won't do any modifications to it. I part of me wants an auto (only b/c i want to go luxary) but a part of me does not want to let go of manual. What's your take . . .?

Re: 07 Lexus IS
i say go with the rwd manual. both versions have traction control so you won't really see the difference between awd or rwd until you really push the car. Then again the off the line power of awd is nice.
Re: 07 Lexus IS
IS250 comes Manual
IS350 comes Triptronic
So either u cope with loosing power for ur demon of driving manual cars :-p or u get the IS350 with paddle shift ... BTW Congratulations on the choice man ! The IS350 and the G35typeS are my dream cars and hopefully I will be getting one of em next year :-D
But to be honest go for the IS350 ... I read it on the reviews that the CVT transmission on the new Lexus, Infinitis is faster in shifting gears than it would be on a Manual Tranny ... And trust me on this one ... Go test drive the 07 G35 sedan type S ! You will know what Im talkin about ;-)

Re: 07 Lexus IS
yes i've driven rwd vehicles.
i've driven a bmw 330 ci auto
bmw 525 auto
lexus ls460 auto
ls430 auto
porsche carrea 03 - stick
porsche 911 06- stick
thats to name a few. There's more to a car then just drive train. There's handling, balance, comfort and looks. All of them are factors, drive train is just one factor.
if he's going auto x or drifting then rwd is a must. If its his dd and he's just hovering through bumper to bumper traffic he's not going to notice the difference between fwd, rwd, or awd.
You only really notice the difference between the different drive trains when your dragging or tracking the car. How often does a normal person do that?
I mentioned the awd is nice because since its awd its puts all that power to the ground, so he'll get from 0-40mph in dd situations pretty quickly and comfortably.
It just depends if he wants sport or comfort pretty much.

Re: 07 Lexus IS
i think people just say that because the old is300 was 3200lbs with 215hp.
The new one is 3400lbs and its 205hp.
I think the is350 is a better deal though. $5k more and you get extra 100hp.
Re: 07 Lexus IS
hell yeah .. u dont get an extra 100hp by even putting a $5k turbo on that b***ch ... and plus I dont think turbo kits for THAT CAR would cost anyway under $10K.
and plus. the guy mentioned the 1/4mile times for the IS350 i think.

Re: 07 Lexus IS
My cousin's good friend who is a Tech (mechanic) @ Lexus told him that the is250 are always in for repairs. He said the is350's are solid though. No real issues with he is350's. I think it has to do with the tranny, or something like that. I'm not sure what the actual problem is, but my cousin said definetly go for the IS350.
If you want to drive a manual car, get the IS250. The auto tranny in the IS350 is very good though. I personally hate driving auto cars, no matter how fast they are. That's just me though.
I'd suggest the IS350 if you don't mind an auto tranny.

Re: 07 Lexus IS
when did i mention turbo?
i was comparing the msrp of the is250 manual and msrp of the is350
msrp of a is250 manual is $30455 and the msrp of a is350 is $35705.
So its around a $5k difference in price for a 205hp to a 305hp car. If you negotiate off sticker the difference is even smaller.
i agree on the quarter mile times through, i dont think the is250 is a 13sec car. I heard there more in the 14's. I can believe the is350 hitting 13's though.

Re: 07 Lexus IS
Get the 350. The extra hp makes up for the lack of a manual since you won't be tuning it. It'll have a higher resale value if you ever decide to sell it.

Re: 07 Lexus IS
Wow! I didn't think I'd get this much response. This is great. In response to some of the comments/questions . . .
-Well, this is not a def. desicion. I've been thinking about, considering it etc. I probably will get one in the next year. I do a lot of hw before anything goes.
-Regarding to someone's comment, yes I think the 7th gen needs to be touched in order for it to look good. I actually had to do some modding for it to actually get to my liking, dn't flame it's just me.
- I'm not an old fart LOL so no offense taken. It's really hard to say no to manual. I love manuals, so much fun. If only the 350 came in manual then i'd be set with my desicion.
- I did not know the 250 had some issues, thanks for that comment, I will be looking into that.
- SI over IS??? I'm not really into the 4dr SI, not my liking. Btw, IMO that car has to be dropped to look good. The IS is perfect as is with no modding.
Thank you all!!
