Whats The Lower Control Are For??

I went to get a change of oil and when the car was done they gave me a little list of stuff I need done to my car and one of the things was that I need is lower control arm I have no clue where it goes and what does it do but my question is could that be why the passenger side rear rubs? Because the left side does'nt rub at all I can speed and do whatever and it does'nt rub or nothing but the right side does I can make a left turn and it rubs I can go over a little dip and it rubs could that be the lower control arm? and my right is lower then the left.

Re: Whats The Lower Control Are For??

it could be bad bushings somewhere too. i always called that part of my car a trailing arm.

Re: Whats The Lower Control Are For??

we have control arms up front, trailing arms in the back. if they called the control arms, they are either bent or the bushings are cracked or worn. which is most likely the case because the stock bushings are angled for stock suspension, when you lower the car it bends the bushing and puts a lot of stress on it. I know for a fact mine are done, and ive seen 3 lowered 7thgens in the past month with the same thing. and if thats the case, buy yourself the ES inserts for $50 and take it to a better shop to install them or DIY with a press.

holy crap. and they could obviously tell the tranny fluid needed changed because they have x-ray transmission vision.

and i've never changed a cabin filter in any car i've ever had. maybe i will on this one though. maybe...probably not.

Re: Whats The Lower Control Are For??

dealerships always try to screw people with the cabin air filter... it doesnt hurt to replace it, but it's hundreds in labor for a $20 part that you can do yourself; it isn't really necessary, though. it's just a filter for the incoming air, so if you have bad allergies it can be a nuissance.

Re: Whats The Lower Control Are For??

If you live in an area with a lot of dust or crap in the air, it will help to clean or replace the in-cabin air filter.

If your a/c seems to blow weaker than before you should inspect the filter.

I usually just smack the dust out and vacuum the filter so I can just reuse it.

Yeah it looks like I do. But it looks like the side that is rubbing is lower then the other side.. I could be wrong but it looks like it, I will check later again.

Re: Whats The Lower Control Are For??

youre not running a camber kit now? if so, thats probably your problem, the car is probably squating too much. you need to bring the camber out a little more towards positive.
