i-vtec q's

Hey everybody, I want to know a little bit more about the engine of the 02 si. I am making the assumption that it is DOHC but what is the difference between its i-vtec (intelligent-vtec??) and the regular (stupid )vtec in our ex's?? any elaboration or links from you guys would mean just one thing: it's miller time

i-Vtec is rumored to be slower because it is considered more "fuel effecent."

I mean compared to regular V-Tec (if they had both aval.) the regular V-Tec would beat it. I am not saying that our regular V-Tec will in anyway beat any of the i-Vtec's but if you had a choice the regular would be faster.

Why would they use I-VTEC in cars that are tuned for performance such as the Si and the RSX Type S. I don't think it's slower or tuned for fuel economy. Our VTEC is tuned for fuel economy and performance.

i vtec maybe more fuel efficient but it is definetlly better it not only has the vtec effect but it also retards the engine and then advances it during the vtec timeing ( meaning more torque and throttle response) so i would have to pick i-vtec because of the extra response it has. plus it has been proven to make more hp after being moded and higher gains than reg vtec

i-vtec is different because it gives continuous power throughout the rpm band, example: out cars redline at 6800 and our peak power comes about 6000 or so....i vtec bacially would give us our peak power all the way up to the redline not just 6grand

as the rpms go up, the intake cam timing is adjusted automatically depending on load, viechle speed, rpm, ect. Like the VVTI on the Celica GTS.
