Fried my piston rings!!!!!

DAMNIT!!!! Friday night I pulled up along side a red 2000 Si at alight. The guy had some performance mods on it and looked over at me and said, "Nice car....wanna race?" I said no. thanks. Then all of a sudden I noticed he had some girls in the car with him, so I didn't want to look stupid, so I said ok. Anyway to make a long story short....we raced...I used my NOS....and FRIED MY PISTON RINGS!!!!! Word of advice to all out there! DONT USE NOS!!!! IT's not worth it!!!!

I knew someone was going to say that. However, in reality I was very unable to drive the car once that happened. I had to have it towed. What really sucks though is the other guy didn't even really race me. I did the whole thing just being stupid. Actually, a few of the seals were cooked.

I think if you would have been running a 50 shot you would've been ok. theres alot of people running 50shot and have beeb for a while with no problems. I think a 75 shot was to much for factory internals.

Who told you that the piston rings were fried? What does that mean exactly? Do they actually melt? Then they don't seal the combustion chamber as well? Sounds like TF&TF to me...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but burning/frying your piston rings occurs when the temperature in the combustion chamber is so hot that the rings are actually seared and disintergrate(spelling?) right? The edges of the rings become so hot that they are "burnt" away? Thus leading to poor sealing of the chamber....?

The rings are gone....and yes the temp just rose to like a billion degrees!!!! Warping and thus locking up my engine. My buddy who is just a whiz with cars said that is probably what happened. I am just assuming that is the problem. Again, it may not be, but we are going to take the head off today and take a look. He thinks it's either the rings or it could be total detonation...I hope not. I will never use nos again.

If you were running anything more than a 50 or 55 shot, you deserved it because that would be plain stupidity...

Man! The guy fried his engine or seals or whatever. People flaming and arguing. I don't know what happened, what he's running, and what the damage will be. The guy wanted to go fast like the rest of us. Let's find out what happened and be constructive and maybe gain some knowledge about the disadvantages of nitrous. Maybe get a real world example of what happens when it's used incorrectly.
